Welcome to Lesson seven. In this lesson, we're going to do the hands on portion. Now we talked a little bit about a program called Raptor where you can actually create a flowchart and I absolutely love this program because it will go through your flowchart and tell you whether or not that is going to run and whether or not that's actually in logical order or if you're having problems. So when you're learning to do a flowchart fantastic software. The downside is they don't have any versions for Mac. Hmm, no not really have any versions for anything other than Windows.

So if you're running Windows, this is this is really a great program to download. But again, like I said, they don't really have it for anything else. So maybe Google search will help you find something that will work for you. There are a few other programs that you can use That'll, I don't know if they're as good as Raptor, but they do pretty much the same thing. So I'm at the website here, it's Raptor R a, p is in pi, Tz, and to to I don't know, o, R, dot, Martin Carlisle ma rt INCARLISL e.com. So I hope that you can see that pretty clearly.

Another thing you can do is you could do a Google search for rap Raptor software download or Raptor flowchart interpreter. There's a lot of different sizes, you can download it from. Over here, you can see that I did a Google search for that I did a raptor flow chart software download. And there are some different places that you can download it. This is the main site I prefer to download from main site. I don't like softonic I don't because I don't want to download their downloader and all the junk that they like to throw in there.

And the same thing with CNET. But you know, like, that's up to you. Some people like to use those downloaders but I like to go straight Toro, Raptor, Martin Kala calm and download from here. So I'm going to take you through and show you how to download and install the software. You'll notice this web page is not the most well designed web page, that's fine. The person that creates the software may not necessarily be the West best web designer, but you know, you know what, that doesn't mean anything.

It's still it's a good software, it works pretty good. And so you just kind of have to pay attention when you're on here because everything isn't super clear. You've got Click here to see a picture of rafter for paper describing the use of Raptor in general education course you're going to click Here, here's another paper so just kind of pay attention to what it is that you're doing. Then they tell you about some books that are out that you could you know possibly use some resources if you need them. They'll let you know that this is clearly an advertisement so you know you don't want to click on that. And then here it says Download Raptor using the button below.

Where are how are you using Raptor? I keep a list of what schools and universities are using wrappers and what for class it helps you plan for future advancements, please email me let me know you're not to do that. But you know what, if you want to you can. So here's a button that says download the Raptor here. Now every software that you download should have a list of requirements for that software. So this is based on the dotnet framework 4.5 xp users may have to have the old installer or an earlier version.

Let's see and as you look down, you know, it'll tell you about this Different versions and the features etc. And you can see here it talks about other operating systems. So they have experienced with or experimented with mono Ubuntu. But, you know, this Raptor is only supported on Windows, he does get questions about if there's a Mac version, they haven't had the time to develop one, but they've heard that one may let them run the Windows version of Mac. So if you so basically, if you have windows on your Mac, you should be able to download this but if you have the Mac operating system, then you might be able to download wine, which is kind of like a, a virtual way to run Windows. So wine might be it might be an option for you, but it's like running Windows or a whole different computer and it just comes up and so you might even have to learn how to use wine as well just just to let you know, Raptor is absolutely free.

That's the wonderful, wonderful thing about it. So I'm going to go up here, I'm gonna click download the latest version. And that's the name of the file. Again, please always pay attention to where you are downloading things. In my case, I'm in Firefox. So even if I don't adjust in the settings where I want things to download, the default is to download in the Downloads folder, and you can click on that little arrow and it just takes you right to the folder that you need to go to see when I click on that a tooltip comes up and it says open containing folder.

So those little pop ups are called tooltips. Okay, so here it is Raptor 2016 I have that downloaded and I'm just going to double click it and then The installer will guide you through the steps required to install rafter on your computer. Just click next it's going to install to your C program files x86 and in the file rafter, you can change that if you want to, I don't suggest that you do. Next thing, we just have to click Next again and then wait. Oh, and then we also have to give it permission. And then we can close it.

So now we have the software actually downloaded. We're just gonna go and check and make sure that we can find it. Remember how it is on Windows 10 you may have to there it is, you may have to right click it and then pin the software to the start so that you can find it. You can also actually you can run it as an administrator. So if you're having a problem with the software permissions when you're trying to run it, say, if it doesn't do something that you wanted to do, you might want to say run it from administrator or run it as administrator. You can also pin to the taskbar.

So that puts it right down here, and makes it quite easy to just click on it and open it up. And this is what the program looks like. Whenever you start off. You have a master console, and then you have this and if you want to expand it, you can expand it can move your master console over. And there you go. Now you have the program installed, and it's ready to go.
