Okay, so now I want to show you how to optimize kind of the defaults and more of the back end of your YouTube account. So what you're going to do is go to youtube.com forward slash account, it's that simple. Or you can click right here, click on the gear icon, that's the YouTube settings, and it will bring you to the exact same place. So we're gonna want to go through and of course, edit different things. For example, if you want different additional channels, there may be one channel that is public, one channel this private. Some people have channels dedicated to specific ideas.
For example, if you play video games, that's one channel. And then if you open boxes, or you know you do product reviews, that's another separate channel you have different audiences. So you can do all of that inside of here. The notifications I like to turn most of these off, but of course you can choose what you would like to do with this. Most of it is mainly reserved for comments, activity on comments and activity. On my videos are channel.
And by activity, it means usually someone who is interacting with it not just someone who has subscribed, or comments that I have posted on other channels or videos, it's not that sort of stuff that I want to get updated on. So this is kind of how I have mine set up. And you can do whatever you want for yours. But I like to remove the general updates. And the obviously, basically, this is YouTube marketing emails. So that's about all I have.
Now you can just say only send me required service announcements, and that'll get rid of everything except things that you need to know for example, maybe a privacy or I'm sorry, a YouTube video strike, or maybe something where an account is having TLS changes, privacy policy changes, things like that. All of that is going to be edited inside there. Now the playback isn't really going to have much, it's just going to be I suggest having all of these clicks, because YouTube occasionally for very popular videos will create captions. Now, these captions aren't always perfect, but they are captions nonetheless. And they add SEO to your video because Google is actually able to see captions that are created for a video. And they use that as a speech to text.
And then they rank based on that additional content. So I do suggest having those obviously updated and checked this gene privacy This is basically, again, keep all of my like videos, private, all my playlists, private, all my subscriptions private. I suggest that especially if you have more of a business account, if you have something where you're a social person, maybe again, you're interacting with other youtubers you're doing what could be reaction videos or something that's hot topic for the moment, then I suggest obviously unchecking those you want to be socially aware and show other people what you enjoy. Well, you can connect your accounts through here, Twitter. And I think that's all they have for right now. They used to have Facebook a few years back.
But that may have actually changed since it's Google via Facebook, right. So you can also connect things to your TV that's more for a user. To do that's not for a publisher really to be concerned with billion payments is something where, again, if you'd like to make YouTube purchases, if you have YouTube advertising that you do anything like that is done inside billion payments. Then the advanced settings is where all of the fun really starts coming out. This is being able to claim a custom URL. You may be also able to change your ID your brand, and post obviously any activity to your feed, like adding a video to your playlist, liking a video saving a playlist or subscribing to a channel.
You can also do the dreaded delete your channel here, which I suggest stain clear away. But if you want to change your URL, and I believe you have to normally have over 100 subscribers, you have to be on YouTube for at least 30 days and you have to have at least 10,000 minutes watched which I've met all of those things, then you get to claim your URL through this. So that's the advanced settings. I'm also going to go into the default settings that you can do when you upload a video. Right coming up.
