So let's understand citations. What are citations citations are essentially directory listings that you place in directories. Now there is Nicoll citations is because that's the US term for directory listing. And that seems to have stuck and held with local SEO. So they're always called citations. But what they essentially are is a listing of your business name, address, phone number.
And we always make sure we duplicate that content to our net page. So we've mentioned this before, so we have a nap page. And then whenever we fill out a citation, and we enter a name, address, phone number website, we match what's on website perfectly. We always always, always duplicate. So let's just have a quick look. Because there's another little tip I want to show you as well, that we didn't mention earlier.
So here's a name, address, phone number. So it's a net page. We've got on Business photography and videography. So we've got our telephone number and mobile, our email and our address here. Now what we need to make sure is it matches now, I wanted to show you this because I want to show you when it isn't matching correctly. So we can see here we've embedded a map and I'll show you how to do that in a moment where to get the right embed from because it's the wrong way right way in the wrong way to create an embedded map and it does actually give you a citation source.
When you do this. We want to make sure we actually put this in on our map page whenever possible. But you can see the address here is business photography, videography, 47 bonus way Peterborough, but on the website says 47 bonus weight GM for which an area and then Peterborough and then Cambridgeshire and postcode. So in this instance, these are not matching. So what we need to do is make sure that our Google Plus page however we've set that up is actually matched here. We'd have to go and change that and match back.
The other thing I wanted to show you here is, a lot of times when people can add a map like this, you can get a lot of benefit if you do it the right way. But a lot of people do the wrong way. You don't just want to take your address in map search and add that here, you actually want to go into the page itself, and add it as the local page. So what we want to do here is, we want to click through, and we actually want to find the maps result. So if we go into maps Now, click here, and this is going to take us through and we see that we've found our page itself. Now what we'd have to do go into maps and actually find this listing.
And then when we've done that, we can access this page and actually share it. So let's just share, let's take embed map. And we're going to take the HTML from this, and we're going to put that HTML on that page. What we would not do is just do a map search for our address. And then take this as an embed, we have to make sure that we actually share the actual page listing itself, we can take that we can then embed that on our website. And that's going to give us a little SEO boost.
And it's also going to create a link between the maps page and our nap page, which is really important. So I hope you can see that although that might not look like a mistake. When you actually check the maps result address, you're going to see that that was indeed wrong. And the other thing I want to remind you of is that when you link to this page, always make sure you link to that then that page might be contact about whichever. Make sure you link to that and not the home page so that all the citation listings point back and match this so they have this web address this page. Really, really important.
