So one of the things we have to be thinking about is how are we going to check backlinks? And how are we going to disavow bad links? So let's go and have a look at that. So we're going to use open Site Explorer again, we came across earlier. And when it comes to disavowing bad links, I'll show the actual link itself. But the way to find is actually just do a search for disavow bad links, and then find the Google support information there.

But let's just first check our existing backlinks. Let's use OSC to do that. So here we are on Moz, open Explorer, we've put URL in and we're going to do a search. So okay, so we had this page up earlier was looking at domain authority and page authority. Now what we need to do now is scroll down to inbound links. And what we're going to see is that we have Some backlinks.

And OSC is giving us details of all the backlinks that are linking to our site. So we can check our spam score here. And then we can use that to decide if we want to disavow a bad link. What a disavow is we're saying to Google, someone's linked to me and disavow and I have no knowledge of this, I don't want it. And then Google will disavow that. And we'll show you where how to find the information on how to do that in a second.

So we can come here, check our spam score. And we can also then drop down and we've got a spam analysis page that gives a link if you want to go in and have a little bit more information on what has happened. So this is where we would find if anyone was doing sort of blackhat SEO, dark SEO and targeting clients website. So you might get clients saying I've disappeared in search. I'm not sure why you come in here. And you could start to see what was going on.

Now. So we've got a lot of links here, but we've got this funny little thing that says no, follow And what nofollow is, basically is someone who has given us a link to our landing page. But they said nofollow. So they're saying I don't want any Google juice to pass on my page to this page. So that site here, for instance, e commerce bytes is linking back to me. They're giving me no Google juice.

So that inbound link is not actually doing very much for me. And as we scroll down, we can see that we're not getting any backlinks from that. Nothing that really helps us. So then we're getting some links here from Tom Bay. And we can go in and just check the spam links over here and see if they're any good remembering, obviously, that nofollow links don't do anything for us. So would I remove disavow and nofollow link?

Yes, I would, I would still disavow it if I have a high spam score, which is registering over here because we don't want spammy websites linking tours. So trying to increase our domain authority and page authority by building backlinks So we're gonna do that. And we can see on this page that by selecting the right type of backlinks to actually be linking and permitted to be linking we can control them. So the other thing we want to look at is disavowing backlinks. So all you have to do is search for disavow backlink. And then Google is going to give you a tutorial on how to do that nice and simple.

Once you've gathered the links, you want to clean up your miles report, search for disavow backlinks come to this tutorial, and you can actually go through that process. So nice and easy.
