So let's set up our Google Analytics. Now you might already have a Google Analytics account set up. If you're working on behalf of a company as a marketing agent, then you'll need to make sure you use their Google Analytics account. Now you can use your own. But to be fair to the client, you should always set up their Google Analytics for them properly. Now, this isn't a course on how to use Google Analytics, Google Analytics is quite easy to set up.
But it's different for every type of website that's out there. So there's no way we could cover this in the course. Now, once we've done that, we want to record visitor stats in that spreadsheet. So the first record is want to serve analytics, how many visits are we getting per month. Now you might set it up, and it might be zero for the first month because you just set up analytics, but then the next month, you should start seeing your first month four figures or if you're doing it weekly, your first week of figures. Now for those that are taking this course because you want to provide deepen your marketing offerings to local business.
Remember that they need To see that you're actually doing the work. Now most local marketing work is done on a retainer. So they will pay you a certain amount each month to manage their local SEO for them. That's typically how it works, there'll be an initial setup cost, how to get it running, and then there's going to be a monthly, so you're gonna have to give them a report. And that's one thing we strongly recommend is set it up, give them a report each month, let them see how it's going. And that will then ensure that they will see the value in keeping on investing in you, and investing in the retainer.
So we're going to record those visitor stats, and we've got our first statistic. I just want to show you quickly, local page, how that's going to work. So here we are. We're logged in on Google, my local page and this is an older business of mine. We're going to be using this as we go through in places that business is slowly being wound down. So the SEO work on that isn't brilliant, but it's good to show you because Cause we can then see an average website will look like that hasn't had loads of SEO worked on it.
So it's a good example for us to use. We've got some insights here. So this is the insights the last 30 days on our local page. And we're also tracking a number of local reviews. And you can see we never did the work on the reviews we should but this particular business does do quite well in search. So we're quite happy with where it is as a first page result.
