Google My Business Page. Now this is the most important thing we can do when it comes to our local SEO accounts a 13%. But it also helps Google index all the of activity we're going to do. So when we set up our Google My Business Page, and we also set up our web page and Google see that linked, we're going to get much better results from our directory listings, because Google's going to be able to connect the dots much easier. So we're going to set up a new page, we're going to show how to fill out the data, some things to be aware of also going to look at category selection. I'm also going to look at net page linking and explain what that means.

So let's have a look at all this stuff. So here we are. We're on a main account on our main gmail account, which you can see up here I'm logged in on my main account, which I want to set a page up. So what we're going to do is we need to go here, so we need to click down. And then what we've confined is these are all our Google properties that we have access to, if we scroll down in here, we're going to see my business what we want to do, let's just drag this up where we can see it. So let's just bring this up and put it here.

So now we've done that, we can click on this. And it's going to take us through to Google My Business, where we can set up pages, as you can see, click on that. And what we're going to do is we're going to set up a new page. Now, the first thing it's going to do is ask us to identify the business. So we need to put a business name in here, just fill out this form. So we want to make sure that we put all the right information down here.

So we've entered all our data. What's really important to understand that this becomes the basis of our nap data. So this is our name, address, phone number, which we're going to use in all our citations which we're going to put on our map page on our website, the nap data is really, really important that everywhere we have our name, address phone number, it's identical even to a comma even to a dash, we want to make sure, however we enter it here, we enter it the same everywhere else. Now, sometimes you're going to come across some directories, to give some variations. And they won't allow you to do it the same way exactly the same way. But most of the time, you can't you must make this identical wherever you put, I can't overstate this enough, because Google will look at a directory or a citation listing, they will look at your nap data and if they match, I got Oh, this is the same business and you've just created that really important citation link has to be identical though, because if they see something slightly different, a different phone number, they're gonna assume there's something wrong there.

It's incomplete. It's not correct. So it's, it's one of those jobs where you've got to be really, really precise. Now really important. When you do a local business, I deliver goods and services to my customers. You want to tick that if you do deliveries or if your service base and you actually go to the client's property, or your mobile in some way, so click continue here.

So it's going to ask us to specify now alpha. Now you have to decide now how far you want to compete how far you're willing to travel. In terms of your pizza delivery company, for instance, and you deliver pizzas in the evening, you're not going to want to put 50 kilometers down because you don't deliver that far. But if your plumbing service or your electrician, you need to decide how far So in this instance, we're a pizza company, so we're going to deliver within a five kilometer radius. So we filled out all the information as we come down. Now we just want to select a category.

At the beginning, it only allows you to select one category. So we're going to enter one category, but we'll be able to add more later. So in this instance, we're going to select pizza delivery. So now it's going to set up the business now this business hasn't gone live because it hasn't been verified, we're not going to verify this dummy listing, just to show you how to actually do it. So we're going to verify later. So now we need to go in and fill this out once you filled out once you're happy then verifying.

So let's just go through and look at what is actually on the page. And what we need to update. We need to put a business logo in here, business photos here, what I suggest you do is take the time to get some photos up on this because the more data you put into your page, the better it's going to look in search. And also, the more Google is going to appreciate it. So get a local photographer in, get some nice pictures done, get them put on the page or if you're working on behalf of a company, ask them if they have any stock images of their business you can use and if you're a small business, have a look around find a local photographer, and I would recommend that you get a photographer and get these pictures done properly. If you just don't have the budget for that right now in your new business, get yourself a smartphone, make sure you got nice clean images, don't customers faces in the images or anything like that, get some nice clean simple images of your business and get them up.

But it does pay at this point to use a photographer to build this page up. And then interior exterior food and drink, add whichever ones you can. So we've set all that up. And then what's really important here is we will want to add website now, when we add our website here, we don't want to add a homepage, what we want to add is our nap page. So let me show you an example of a nap page we did for a client recently. So this is Flaherty electrics.

This is a business that we've done their website and we're doing currently working on their local SEO using exactly the same techniques we're teaching you here. And as you go across, you're going to see if we drop down to the side, you can see we have a Contact Us page Next go to contact As page on the website, there's actually called in that page in terms of local SEO. But obviously, we won't want to put in that page there, because people looking at us wouldn't know what that means there's a Contact Us page. So what we would do is make sure that whatever is here, and is exactly match to the Google business page. Really, really important. But the other thing that's really handy is adding this little maps listing.

And once you've set up your page, you can add a maps listing, and we'll show you the correct way to do that later. So in terms of the web address, we want this web address, not the home web address, you want to contact web address, because that points directly to where address is as a net page. Now, if you want to put your address on the homepage, you could link there, but I would suggest always linked to your Nat page and your local page, because that page is the one that's linking and then when you set directory listings up they must always come to this page as well. So we do directory listings, even if they tell you not to even tell you to put the homepage, we always linked to the net page. And that's going to create that network around. It's going to help us build citations later on.

So we want to take that contact us and add that to our page. Just make sure that we've got the right distance, we've got the right address, make sure the phone numbers the same, we've got the website URL there. Now we've got pizza delivery category. Now remember, when we set the page up asks us for one, we click Edit here, we can now add a nother category. So add up to five I would say if you if you've got five appropriate categories, you'll find sometimes that Google just don't have your category. And that can be quite frustrating because it doesn't allow you to create one.

What I've often had to do in that is find a category that's as close as possible can be a bit annoying if you've got a niche business that they don't support. So you have to find a broader category business to fit under. So for instance, you might have A drum shop. So if you've got sell drums, you want to put drum shop in there, it might not have drum shop, it might have musical store or musical shop or musical equipment store. And you would put that in there instead. So I want to make sure we put ours on there.

And then when we get that page showing up, as we showed you earlier, you're going to have someone searches for your business, you're going to have that property on the right hand side. And it's going to show your hours of operation as well. We're going to write some simple copy here for our business, explaining what this business does who it serves. Don't go overboard, people are going to read this quickly. So we want to make sure it's quick. Now once you've done this, if you are going to do some local video marketing, you're going to want to set up your YouTube channel.

So what you can do is go to YouTube. And when you go there, it's going to ask you what you want to use ads. So once your Google Local page has been verified, you're going to have the option of doing something like that. So we can use This as our main accounts, when we log into YouTube, we log in with our business page, and click OK. And now if we didn't have that page set up, this one's already set up. So we've already got a few videos Like I said, this is an older business or winding down slowly. So I think a huge amounts there.

But typically what would happen would it would be asked you to create a YouTube channel. So go through that process. If you're going to do video marketing, get your Google page verified first, then login to YouTube, as the business, not your primary account, in this instance, the business page is that's the login you want to use. When you set up that YouTube account. They will be linked. It's really important you do it this way.

Don't do it any other way. Trying to link a present YouTube account with a different Google profile is really, really difficult. And if you have got that issue, then you're gonna have to do a little bit research. It's really, really really difficult to actually match the two up and get Google to cooperate on that. You'll have to do a little bit of research and see if you can merge accounts and all sorts of things like that. What I would do in that scenario, I just get a Google Apps account, and then sign up for a month, then ring support, explain the situation and ask them to help you get the accounts merged.

Yeah, ideal scenario is you set up the local page first, and then go set up the YouTube account and go fill out the data. Especially if you planned on doing lots of local video marketing
