How long should my ebook be? You may ask how long an ebook should be? Before I answer that, let me discuss with you first about the publishing platforms that we're going to use. It's important that we are familiar about the standards of these publishing platforms. Since it is where we are going to release the E book that we are writing. For the purposes of this course, we are going to talk about two types of platform where you can publish your ebooks that would be the Amazon Kindle, and your own website.
Whether you use your own domain name and hosting for your site, which is what I recommend or you use free website sites such as WordPress and blogger, it will be up to you. Since amazon kindle leads the ebook publishing industry, let's take a look inside. As you can see, they have categorized their books based on the estimated time of reading. And this estimates are based on the number of words of each ebook. The Kindle short reads is very popular right now. It's for people who wants to make use of their short breaks, at work or at home for personal reading.
If they can squeeze reading in their very limited time, they would look for ebooks that can be quickly read. And so here we have the popularity of the short reads. Here are the cats Regardless, if this is your first time to create an E book, targeting a short book would be great for you, and a very achievable goal. First, you only need to come up with as little as 2750 words. That's the 15 minutes or 11 pages, ebook, or you can also choose to write as much as 25,000 words maximum, and that would be the two R's or more, or the 100 pages, e book. Note that it is Amazon, who categorizes your E book upon submission.
As long as your book falls under the category of the number of pages required, you will then see your book in that particular category. Amazon count 250 words a page. The sweet spot is 5000 words, or 20 pages. It's neither too short nor too long. And that's what we're going to aim for this course. Whether you're publishing in Amazon Kindle, or in your own website, but the decision is still up to you.
If you want to write longer, go ahead. Now, if you're not a beginner you've been writing since before, although you probably haven't published much. You may be comfortable to write 10,000 words or more as you follow this course. The only thing that you need to remember when writing your ebook, regardless of the length of words, or how long or how short You must know your audience who you're talking to.
