How to overcome the challenges ahead of you. Now, we all know that our lives are full of challenges. And if you take a challenge negatively, we can easily associate it with defeat. At the same time, you will come across certain individuals who thrive in such situations. And they can even manage to use such challenges to the motivation, for example, mountain climbers, or athletes, or even entrepreneurs who said extremely high goals and standards for themselves. Keep in mind, a challenge is always a challenge.
It is how you take on that challenge is basically what defines you. What I'm trying to say is that if you take on a challenge in a way that you look at it in the eye, and consider it that if you overcome this challenge, it will help you grow further, you will easily be able to overcome it. In this lecture, I will share with you seven challenges that you can expect both in your personal and your professional lives and how you can overcome them effectively. The first challenge that you will face no matter who you are, is opinion of others. Now we all want others to think of us as very good human beings. But do you really think that it actually matters how I think of you or how you think of me?
The thing is that opinions or feedback can be of two kinds. It can either be constructive or destructive. If you feel that someone is sharing opinion or feedback about you, just to show you down or demoralize you, you should be in a position to ignore it, and keep doing what you're doing. Because I am a firm believer that if a lot of people start criticizing you, there is a huge possibility that you are doing the right thing. So concentrate on what you're doing, rather than listening to others. At the same time, if you feel that there is someone who is sharing feedback with you so that you can improve yourself, or in other words, constructive feedback, you should be able to acknowledge it and thank them generously for sharing it.
This is something that you will have to master if you wish to succeed. The second challenge that you will face, both in your personal and your professional lives, is fear. Now fear is something that we all face in our lives one way or another, for example, fear of presenting fear of public speaking, fear of video recording, for example, you have no idea how scared I was when I looked at the camera for the very first time. Again, if I take my example, till date, when I'm about to start a training session, I have the sense of fear inside me. And the reason is that you are dealing with human beings. And you can never predict what will happen, anything can go wrong.
So I just acknowledge it, and try to do my best rather than not doing it at all. So acknowledge fair, but don't let it stop you from doing great things. The third challenge that you will face is negativity. Now, for example, you end up working in a team, which is full of negative emotions, and they're demoralized about something and it is affecting your performance as well. Or if you talk about a group of friends who are unhappy about something, and they just keep on gossiping about all the bad things that are happening to them, what will you do in such a situation? My point being that unfortunately, negativity is very common in today's world and it can affect you in many ways I would like to inform your hair that all successful individuals are those who are able to hold negativity back.
But if you are someone who shied away from a negative reaction, you will be easily defeated by the challenge. Your aim should be that you should try to reverse that negative into a positive because my friend they are many wonderful and beautiful things in this world. So try to focus on all the positive things rather than just focusing on the negativity that is prevailing around you. The next challenge that you will face no matter who you are or what you are doing is setbacks. Now what if you apply for a position and you don't get shortlisted? What if you appear for an interview and are not able to clear it?
What if you aim for a promotion all year long work really hard for it, but never caught it in the end. These are all very common setbacks that you will face in your life one way or another. But instead of getting depressed and start playing stupid games like blue whale and all he should get back on your feet and prove everyone wrong. Especially those who do To you, I say this because every setback that you face is basically a lesson for you, and try to learn from it and don't repeat the same mistakes. Again, the key word and also one of my favorite words is persistence that you keep trying, no matter what happens. If you fall 10 times get up 11 times and prove all the doubters that they are wrong.
This is your moral obligation to keep trying, despite whatever odds that are against you. Again, as I mentioned before, that all successful entrepreneurs and professionals have gone through a number of setbacks. If you take the example of Elon Musk, he went broke twice in his career, and he bounced back from there and now he's a billionaire. If we talk about Steve Jobs, he himself was fired from his own organization. But he kept on trying came back and became one of the most successful entrepreneurs of our time. So what I'm trying to get across is that you will face setbacks in your careers, but your aim should be to keep trying hard and bounce back in a way that it defines you as a person who never gives up.
The fifth challenge that you will face regularly in your life is loss of control. No matter how powerful or influential you are, things can never be in your control, you will always have to account for that X Factor. And over here there is a saying that you should prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. And if you believe in such a thing, you will be able to succeed. The second last or the sixth challenge that you will face, and I have also faced many times is rejections. Now, back in the days when I was a student, I used to be extremely shy.
And I used to avoid giving presentations because I had been rejected once or twice. Having said that, I always knew that public speaking or good presentation skills is something that is absolutely necessary, if you want to succeed. So I kept trying hard, I practiced over the years, and then eventually I was able to conquer this fear inside me that I will be rejected. And here I am today presenting in front of a camera, which is more difficult than presenting in front of an audience. So what I'm saying is that try to use these words directions to your advantage. If someone rejects you, you should try your level best to prove him or her wrong, that they made the wrong decision.
And you should have the self confidence inside you that you can achieve any target that you aim for. The last challenge that I would like to share with you is lack of motivation. Now, this is something that can happen in your workplace or even at your home. For example, if you want forbid are facing some family problems or financial issues, then this is something that you will have to address. Now I absolutely agree that when you are demotivated, even a simple task can be extremely difficult to perform. But you have to back yourself up and keep trying your level best.
All successful individuals have this wonderful trait inside them that they are self motivated. And despite the odds, they are able to get up in the morning every day and keep working towards a goal. And this is something that you must do if you want to succeed in life. In the end, I'll just do a very quick run through of all the challenges that I shared with you. The first one which was opinions of others. If you think it is constructive, acknowledge it and thank them for it.
If it is negative, and if you feel they're sharing it with you just to put you down, you should be in a position to completely ignore it and move forward. Second is fear. Everyone has it. Your job is to acknowledge it, but not let it stop you from doing great things. Third is negativity. It will always be there both in your personal and your professional lives, but try to reverse it into a positive and keep working hard.
Then you have setbacks, you will go through various setbacks in your life, like all successful entrepreneurs have gone through as well. But your aim is to bounce back, be persistent, and keep working towards your goal. After this, you have loss of control. No matter how powerful you are, you can never have everything in your control. So acknowledge the start account for all the factors and prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Then the sixth one that is rejections.
This is something that you will have to face one way or another, try to learn from them and don't make the same mistakes again. And then finally the seventh one which is lack of motivation. Like I've mentioned, it is entirely up to you how motivated you are or not. Your aim is to forget about everything that's happening around you, and be determined in whatever that you're doing. If you are able to overcome the challenges that I shared in this lecture, I am confident that you will become a force to be reckoned with no matter what life has to throw at you
