Now let's move on to the next example, which can be relevant again to both fresh graduates and also those individuals who have experienced behind them. In this case, let's assume that we try to address your problem solving skills. So I will ask the question which goes something like this, as you know that in this role that you have applied for the you will be addressed with complex problems, and you have to weigh all the possible options and the outcomes and come up with a concrete solution. So, keeping that in mind, share with me an example where you actually came across a problem and how you overcame that situation. So this is a question that has been asked to you. And while giving an answer, think about a problem that you came across, maybe when you were working as a team, and you came across a problem, and that was that you were working on a project, a very critical project, which was that you had to run, let's say, the payroll, but the main person who was responsible for running the payroll had to go on leave because of some genuine family problems.

So a problem was that you were missing a critical resource. In your team, and you had to run the payroll in his absence. So while explaining this, he will say that the situation was that we were part of a team. And total team members were, let's say, four. And one of our team member who was responsible for running the payroll had to go on leave because of a genuine family problem. And we had to run the payroll in his or her absence, this is the s and you have described the situation, now comes the task.

But then you start saying that since we were not able to call that person into office, because it did not look nice, and he had a problem that it was not possible for that individual to come in. So we decided that we will run the payroll ourselves with the help of different individuals in the organization, and also contacting that individual who was on leave over the phone. So what we did was that since I was good with numbers, and I had good Excel skills, I took the lead and asked my line manager that I will take the responsibility for running the payroll in the absence of the main person. So this was the overall situation and the task and how you overcame that As it goes like this. So the actions that I took was that I, first of all, I gave that person a call who had been running the payroll in the past.

And I asked for his help with regards to all the previous payrolls. So he shared with me all the Excel files related to the payrolls that had been running in the past. And I use that data to construct a payroll for the following month of October. Now, since I was not able to ask him to come to our office, we had a couple of Skype calls, at the same time, he was available on the phone. So whenever I came across a problem, or if I had a question, I contacted him so that he could provide me with relevant information. While doing so I just had only seven days to run the payroll.

And so that was both a stressful task. And it was a problem that had to be resolved because I had taken on the responsibility. So I've constructed a payroll, which was the initial draft, and I shared it with that individual over the email. I requested him when he was free, he could connect from home and just go through the payroll to ensure that everything was aligned. He did so and there were slight changes. that needed to be made, he made that and share it back with me over the email.

Once I had received the Excel file, I approached the finance department because that person had shared with me the proceeds from the relevant departments who will be responsible for the actual disbursements. So I approached the finance person had a sitting with him or her, discuss the overall payroll, try to explain to him or her the problem that was at hand. And we work collectively with the help of finance to run that particular payroll. In the end, what happened was that we were able to run the payroll in time, all the employees got their salaries, and no one knew that our critical resource from our team was missing. Due to my extra efforts. I was appreciated by both the management and my team members.

And I was given a small Recognition Award for my services. So this is something I would like to share with regards to problem solving what I experienced in the past. And I feel that this is something that I can apply to this organization as well. Because every problem that I see, I see it as an opportunity to overcome a challenge you So now you've provided a proper structured answer to the problem that you had. While you have these two examples, the internet is full of different examples of giving structured answers by using the start approach. As your instructor, I would request that you go online do some research.

And as I mentioned earlier in my previous lectures, before you appear for an interview, make sure that you have lined up at least three to five success stories if you have done so, it will be easier for you to come up with an example in a short span of time and also be able to give a structured answer using the star approach. So I hope this clarifies the standard approach and how you can apply it mind you that this is something that once you start practicing, automatically, you will start giving structured answers which will help you qualify for the next round of interview or even land up with a job with your potential employer.
