So your interview has started, and the interviewer says that please tell us about yourself. So how do you introduce yourself like a champ. Now your personal or your introductory pitch is something that you should have practiced beforehand. And the more you practice it, the better you will become at it. Now, keep in mind that if you are able to give a very powerful introductory pitch about yourself, it will not only serve as a confidence booster for yourself, but also lay down proper foundations for the rest of the interview. So you have 60 seconds to do so.
And you have to make each and every second count. Your introductory page cannot be more than 60 seconds, because if it is longer, you will lose the span of attention of the interviewer. So make sure that you practice it again and again before appearing for the interview. Now your introductory page is very similar to something that I call an elevator pitch. For example, if you enter the elevator and you bump into someone who is very influential, how will you sell yourself to that individual, you just have a few seconds till you reach the ground floor and you have to make them count in a way that he or she is willing to listen to more. At the same time, your introductory page or your personal page is also very similar.
You have a very short span of time to share it and get the interest of those individuals. After this, while you're giving your introduction to the interviewers, make sure that you maintain eye contact and you have a gentle smile on your face as well during the pauses, speak with purpose, speak clearly and not too fast. If you're talking too fast, that means you are nervous. At the same time I've mentioned many times over and over again, while you are introducing yourself or having a conversation. Remember to take appropriate pauses in between so that you can breathe in and then continue with your conversation or your introduction. Your introductory pitch should include a basic background about yourself.
And oh by background I don't mean that you start sharing your childhood stories of how cute you were. But in fact stick to the basics, your education background and your work experience. If you have any. Keep in mind that you have to keep it short and snappy. You have to concentrate only on the what part of what you have done the interview. Viewers themselves will ask different questions in order to determine how you achieve certain tasks.
So in your introductory page, just focus on the word part and leave the house apart for later. In the end, I would like to tell you that your introductory page is something that you must practice over and over again. And it will vary from organization to organization and also from job role to job role. It has to be customized according to every opportunity. So make these initial 60 seconds count. speak naturally.
Avoid gimmicks. Remember to breathe in between and once you're finished, take a sip of water like this and listen to the next question carefully.
