In this lesson, let's take a deeper look at the color section of procreate and how we can choose and organize our colors. So I've prepared a file here for you with three circles to centered around our canvas. And in the color section your procreate, procreate has divided into four sub categories. First one is the disc color selection. The second one is the classic color selection, something that we find when we work in Photoshop for example. The third one is the value color selection.

And the fourth one is the palette or the palette section where we can store and create new palettes. So let's go back into this. And the first thing that we can see here is that we have to we have a ring and a circle in the ring stands for Our color hues, we can choose their color hues by just swinging around the circle and or this disc. And the circle right here has the saturation to the least saturated values kind of working on the diagonal, as well as the brightness working on an opposite diagonal, right here in the circle. So, say we choose this very line green, we have the most saturated value at the top right of the circle, least saturated value or pretty much dark or black at the bottom left. The brightest color would be at the top left and darkest color at the bottom right.

So by choosing your colors here, as you can see, we have a before and after. swatch right here on the top right. So say that you're not actually really happy with this color that you've just chosen. You can always roll back Back to your pink by just clicking on the before. And now as you can see the before and after color are pretty much the same. However, what I do want to show you is that let me just go back to our line green.

If you aren't, if you are indeed happy with the screen, if you click right here, thinking that you're going to select the new color, in fact, you actually roll back to your previous color. So whenever you're happy with your new color, you actually have to click on the top right to close the color selection. And once you do that, then you lose the ability to go back to your previous color. So the previous color you actually have let's just see like a one chance to go back to that color. So now let's choose like a very a brighter orange so we can see the difference between those two colors. If I do want to roll back to my lime green, I just click on the before color.

Click away so that we can work with this color. But if I am happy with my new color Then just click on the top right of the menu to close the color selection. So moving on. As you can see here at the bottom of my disk subcategory, we have my default palette, and how can I actually put my color palette right here. We're going to get to this point. But for now I just want to show you a couple things before I can show you how we can set our default color palette to always be here at the bottom.

So let's just say that we are really happy with this orange and in fact, we want to add it to our current color palette. So the space that you see here at the bottom of our color palette are actually empty stacks. And we can just click on procreate allows us to just click on these squares, and we can add any colors that we want to our current color palette. So that's something really, really handy appropriate that allows us to create the To add new colors to our palette by just clicking on the empty boxes. So if we wanted to reorganize colors, we can just slide them to slide the squares. And we can also just click and hold in order to delete colors.

So now let's keep moving to the second sub category. And that is the classic and classic is a color picker mode that's much more common in programs such as Photoshop. And here as we can see in the color picker, we have the most saturated brightest color at the top right. And here, the saturation in this color mode works in a horizontal way. So as you can see here, if I move horizontally, my saturation bar is moving the most. And you see that my brightness bar, it's only moving a little bit.

That is because it's really hard to keep it up. very straight, straight line. But you can do it. If you actually want an exact color value and just move with the saturation. You can actually tweak from these from these color sliders right here. And as you can see, if we want to work with just a bride with a bright value of color, we can work with the bottom line, and that will make it brighter or darker.

The same again goes if we do want to add this color to our color palette, we just click here at the bottom and procreate understands that we want to add this color to our color palette. I'm just gonna delete this to keep things organized. And moving on to the next subcategory. We now have the color values. And this one is less of a visual color picker and more into the actual numbers and color precision if we actually do do one to work this way. So here we have the values of hue, saturation and brightness as well as the face As RGB or red, green and blue values, so if you actually have a different system or if you're working with a different system where you're actually storing your colors by numbers, or even the hex color code, which is really famous, or it's more common to see those values in web design, or in web formats where you actually pick colors with the hex code, you can actually use this system as well to choose your colors.

And the same goes again, if you choose a color here, you can add it to your palette at the at the bottom. And finally, let's take a look at the palettes. subsection here on the color section of procreate. And this is a few of my color palettes that have been using lately on my illustrations. But let's go through all of the options that we have right here. So the first one that we can do is clicking on this little plus here on the top right, we can create a new color palette and by creating a new color palette It's automatically set to default, which means that it will be here on every subcategory.

As you can see it says untitled palette with no color selected, or colors right here stored because we haven't picked any colors yet to this new palette, the first thing that we can do, we can click here and the name, let's just name it, color palette, or one. And with this color palette, if we just swipe to the left, there's a share button. So you can share this color palette with you know, you can put it on Dropbox or you can set this color palette to even with many other exporting ways you can send it to slack as an as a text message as an email. You can copy save it to files, you can send it to your personal drive. But we can also delete the color palette which we're not going to do right now. But let's just do a you know our color selection and choose a few colors to Insert into our color palette.

So let's just start with our lime green. We're just going to put that color over here. And now let's get a yellow color, a blue color, maybe a lighter one. And finally, pink. So as you can see, it's really really fast in order to add colors to our color palette. And now they are always here at the bottom.

Very handy for us very quickly for us to actually select these scholars, I can just click on the little squares. And as you can see the numbers adapt to that color right away. And finally, we can apply these collars on to our illustration, also very, very easily. So that's why it's really really important and powerful to actually work with color palettes and store those values. So they you don't have to go back to the eyedropper per se and start to color pink. Each color that you work on your illustration that you don't have saved as a color palette.

So I believe that about covers colors for us in procreate. So now let's jump into our next lesson which is our first assignment of illustration
