In this lesson you will be cutting your fabric lining and you're interfacing from the PDF pattern pieces just that we just cut and assembled. So the tools you're going to need, you're going to need your main fabric which will be your exterior fabric, you're going to need your lining your interfacing, your PDF pattern, your fabric scissors and your pattern weights. So let's get started. So when you bring your fabric home from the fabric store, it will be folded with right sides facing and the selvage edge is me. So for example, this is my fabric folded in half the right sides are facing and the selvage edges meaning this edge here that looks a little rough. That's your selvage edge.

Those edges should be meeting with your fabric folded with right side spacing. So what I like to do before I cut my fabric because I don't want to waste a lot of fabric. A lot of your pattern pieces will say, cut on the fold. This is the fold of my fabric but I have all of this fabric left. If I cut my pieces here, like it is now, I'm going to waste a lot of fabric. So what I like to do, I like to unfold my fabric.

So that the selvage is is towards me. Right? Right, so this is the surface. So I take it and I just fold it over. Right and I folded over just enough to cut out my pattern pieces. So I make sure that my pattern piece will fit.

For example, this is my pattern piece number one, this is my main pattern piece. I make sure it sets if it doesn't. I just move it over just a little bit more You just adjust it until it's the right fit for your pattern piece. Right once I have the right fit, I go ahead and place my pattern piece where it says fold I make sure that that part of the pattern is is on the fold of the fabric. So what you want to do you want to take your pattern wait lace your pattern wait so that they hold the pattern piece steady and it doesn't shift while you're cutting. And you go ahead and you just cut around your patterns.

I'm just turning the pattern piece so I can cut the square Remove your pattern weights and now you have one of your main pattern pieces could and if you open it up you see that you have a full pattern piece. And now you would just put one more because you have to cut two of these on the fold. So go ahead and grab the rest of your pattern pieces. Look at your instructions and see which pieces you're cutting your exterior fabric, your lining fabric and your woven interfacing fabrics. And you cut the pieces the exact same way. fold your fabric over, if it needs to be cut on the phone.

If it does not say cut on the phone, then you're only cutting the indicated piece. For example, pattern piece number seven, which is your pocket, you're cutting four pieces of fabric but you're not it doesn't say fold on your pattern piece. So you're cutting for a fabric and for woven interfacing, meaning you're just cutting four pieces of fabric. Right so go ahead and cut out the rest of your exterior fabric, your lining fabric and your woven interfacing fabrics, and I'll show you how to fuse the interfacing to your fabric pieces. pattern piece number one OSI and we'll use it again when we get ready to cut our interfacing. So take your main fabric and you fold it again.

You fold it over just enough that will fit your pattern piece and we're going to cut pattern piece number three which is your front pocket. You You're cutting one on the fold. Right? So you take your pattern piece number three, you place it on the fold, like your pattern weights and you cut around and you're only cutting them so you have one curve for your front pocket. Now we're going to cut our facing which is pattern piece number four. You're cutting to a fabric on the fold.

All right, so you should have to have your facing pieces cut on the fold. Now we're going to cut your recessed super flat you're going to cut for on the phone. And the last piece that you're going to cut with your exterior fabric is your strap tab you're going to cut to but you're not cutting the two pieces on the fold, you're just cutting two separate pieces. So now let's move on to cut our lining fabric. So now let's cut out our line in pieces. I folded the lining fabric just like I folded the main fabric.

I just folded it in half just enough to cut the pattern pieces. And we're going to cut each of our pieces that indicates that we need to cut a lining from so pattern piece number two which is your lining. You're going to To on the fold. So now you have two lightning pieces cut for pattern piece number two. For pattern piece number three which is your front pocket. You're going to cut one on the fold of mine You now have one cut of your lining for your front pocket.

And last but not least, you're cutting out your slip pocket and you're cutting four but you're not cutting them on the fold. You're just cutting four pieces. Right so just place your pattern piece down, use your pattern weeks and cut around. So if you're interfacing you go into code at the same way that you cut your fabric and you're lining, every piece you should be cutting woven interfacing. And again, if you're using a cotton cloth, fabric as your exterior main fabric, please refer to the materials so you'll know which pattern pieces you need to cut of the fusible fleece and not the woven interfacing. I'm using an upholstery fabric and that fabric is already pretty heavy.

So I'm only going to need to cut the woven interface in which is much more lightweight than the fusible fleece. If I were to use fusible fleece with this upholstery fabric, it will be too hard to sew for my machine. Each pattern piece will tell you how many pieces of woven interfacing to could. So I'm starting with my main piece and I am claiming to have woven interfaces. Next, I am curling my front pocket and I'm cutting to have woven interfacing For my lining, anchoring to have woven interfacing on the phone alright so for my spacing I'm cutting to a woman interfacing on the phone for the recessed super flat, I'm cutting for on the fold. For my strap tab I cut to not on the fold and for my slip pocket I'm cutting for and I'm not cutting it on the fold
