Hello, and welcome to the lecture on ethical conduct. So when I talk about ethical conduct, what I'm referring to is romantic or sexual attraction between you and your client. So let me state right up front very clearly that any sexual or romantic interaction between you and your client is immoral. It's illegal and possibly criminal. So never, ever, ever engage in that type of activity with your client. First of all, it's because they're opening up to you, and you're taking advantage of them when when they're vulnerable, and they're weak.

So never engage in that activity. So with that said, what do you do if those feelings come up those feelings of romantic attraction or physical attraction, and they will come up at some point in the course of your practice. So you're going to have to To deal with it at some point. So let's look at the first one. Okay, let's say that you have a client that's attracted to you or even falls in love with you. What are you going to do?

It's a really good question. Well, first off, you're probably not gonna know when it happens. And if it gets to the point where it's strong enough where your client actually has to verbalize it to you, you have two choices. One is to terminate the relationship, just say I'm sorry, it's against the law for me to be involved with the client who's romantically or physically involved with me. That's why I gave you the Professional Conduct papers when you first came in. The other option is that you can kind of talk it through and so say, Okay, I understand that you're attracted to me, I don't sleep with my clients, I don't have affairs with my clients.

I appreciate it. I'm flattered by it. And then you move on. And so if those feelings continue past that session, then you terminate it, you cut it off, you can't do it, so it just won't work. Now, the other situation is what happens if you have sexual or romantic feelings towards your client and that may happen from time to The first thing you don't do is that you don't tell your client. And then you have two options at that point also, either you have to be honest with yourself, can I work with this client under these circumstances, then if you can't, then you cut it off.

And you you don't have to tell them why. You know, just say, you know, this or this, I don't feel like I'm the best therapist for you, blah, blah, blah, blah, you want to be very tactful, you want to hurt their feelings and and if you can refer them on to somebody else, that would be great. And then the other option is to kind of just to not verbalize it and deal with it, and go through a session, recognizing those feelings. And if they continue on past one session, then cut it off, because it's just going to be a distraction that's going to get in the way. Okay, so let's talk about the nature of our work as clinical hypnotherapist. So the work that we do is very intimate, it's very personal, it's very touching.

It can be very profound with people and there can actually be love energy that is present in those sessions. So you may develop deep fondness for your clients and they may develop deep fondness for you also. And so that platonic, non physical, non sexual love energy is really great because you want to use that energy, especially if you become more involved as an energy healer, where you can channel that love energy to do some very profound healing. So this is not romantic, and it's not physical energy, but it's very loving energy. So just to reiterate, never, ever engage in romantic or physical activity with your clients. And also you can use loving energy in a very profound way, which is not sexual and not romantic to get some great results.
