The first lecture is is what is a resume? So, to get into anything today we know that a resume is required to submit before your application but, but why some of you might be asking the questions. Okay, why do I need to send this silly thing to an employer to a recruiter to my potential boss? Why is it so necessary? Where did resumes come from? Because I think it's important to understand why we need a resume before we actually start writing your resume.

And so a little bit of history for you before we get started. The word resume derived from the French word summary. So the French word summary resume, it is unclear who actually invented it. But it was apparently made popular by a guy named Leonardo da Vinci, you may have heard him before. And so, Leonardo da Vinci wrote, you know, a long list of his achievements, all the things that he had done to seek patronage to Duke of Milan and since then, a resume has become, you could say, a very popular thing to sell oneself. So by the 20th century, which is the last century that just passed, we witnessed the resume becoming a universal tool for hiring for for job application process, and this is started all the way back in 1920 to 1930.

So today resumes and now an integral part of the pirating process and a single most important piece of information for professionals to be heard. And you know, the statistics tell you those who are in finance those who are in commerce in business, and whatever field of study Finance, you might find yourself your resume is the first thing that goes to your potential employer and that's why it's so important to get it right and so important to understand why and where it came from and what is meant to do. So resume is ultimate avatars, advertisement of one skills and expertise
