Lesson nine, who are you going to talk to? In lesson eight, we talked about planting seeds. Now, we're going to talk specifically about who you should be talking to about your network marketing business. Now, there's a tendency by a lot of people to look for people who need more, not people who want more. Here's what I mean by that. When you get excited about your network marketing business, you start thinking about people and say, Well, you know, who needs this?

Bob needs this because Bob doesn't have a job. And you start thinking about all the people who need more. There's a problem with that logic with that way of thinking. The problem is that in many cases, there's a reason people need more. They're not the kind of people now sometimes they are but sometimes they're not. The kind of people who want more out of life and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it as long as it's legal, ethical and moral.

What you are looking for are people who want more out of life. So how do you know who wants more? And the people who just need more? Well, you ask, and the only way you will ever find out is if you ask and if you don't ask, if you assume that's a huge mistake. Now, when I first started in my network marketing career, I tried and failed and tried and failed and tried and failed over and over again. And one of the reasons I failed is I was constantly thinking about who I knew that needed a better life.

Well, who am I to judge, you need to expose the opportunity to as many people as possible as quickly as possible, and you can't possibly know what's going on inside their head. A lot of times when people are struggling in life and you say, hey, Bob, how you doing? Bob says, Oh man, my life is great. And you might not want to approach Bob because you say, well, Bob's life is great. Well guess what I said that when I've been unemployed for eight months, nine months, I told people I was doing great. I wasn't doing great.

And network marketing changed my life. Imagine if somebody said, Wow, Scott's doing great. I had no idea. Maybe he likes not having to go to work anymore. Well, that part was true. The part I didn't like, was the part where they didn't pay me anymore.

So you cannot judge a book by its cover. So who are you going to talk to, by the way? Who should I talk to never qualify? Anybody? This is an important lesson, if use and what I mean by that is simply, if you say well, I'm not going to talk to Scott because he says he's doing great. You should always allow everybody The opportunity to choose for themselves don't choose for anybody else.

So what you're going to do is make a list of people, you know, and instantly when I say that, I know that scares a lot of people. Why? How could I possibly know that? Because it scared me. It used to scare the living daylights out of me. Oh, well, I'm not going to talk to so and so because then I have to admit that I'm doing this and you just can't think that way if you want to be successful.

One of my favorite things to do is I expose the business to everybody. I let them choose. You don't pressure people into taking a look at your business. You don't convince them to join your business. And anytime anybody says to me, you know what, I don't think I'm interested, Scott. But thanks.

What I instantly say is, Hey, I can appreciate that Bob. I just wanted you to know what I'm up to. So that when I'm making $100,000 a year in this business, I don't want you to come to me and say, Hey, Scott, you're making 100 grand a year, you're not working a job. How come you didn't tell me about this? I thought we were friends. She's just really important.

What I just said, Hey, no problem, Bob. I just wanted to make sure I shared this with you so that when I am making $100,000 a year, you don't come back at me and say, Hey, Scott, how come you didn't tell me about this? I thought we were friends. Now you have to say it with conviction. You have to say it, and you have to believe it. earlier.

In one of our earlier lessons, we talked about changing the way you think you must expect to become successful in your network marketing business. If you don't expect to become successful, the opposite will be true, you will expect to fail and you probably will. So I want you to get used to say and no problem. I just wanted to make sure you knew about this because when I'm making $100,000 a year, I didn't want to to come back and say, Hey, Scott, how come you didn't tell me about this thing? Now, what you're going to do is you're going to make a list. And you've probably already heard this, you're gonna make a list of everybody, you know, that scares people.

And instantly most people begin to qualify. And here's what I mean by that. Well, I can't put down Bob because Bob's got a great job, Bob, Bob would never do this thing. So forget Bob. And I can't talk to Nancy. Because Nancy doesn't have enough time.

She's got the four kids. I know women who have four children who start network marketing part time, and make a quarter of a million dollars a year. Now, let me ask you this question. Do you want to cheat those women out of the opportunity to quit their jobs, spend all their time with their children and make a quarter of a million dollars a year? I don't think you do. So you just want to instantly start writing down everybody you can think of now.

Well, I'm not going to discuss with you how you should approach them. I want you to go to your upline mentor, I want you to go to somebody in your business right now who is in the game. In other words, they are talking to people about their business on a regular basis, daily, weekly, definitely several times a month, you want to find out from the person you can talk to, that's making the absolute most money possible, exactly how they are approaching their prospects. You want to make sure you duplicate that process. Why not just so you become successful? So then when you recruit Bob, you say, Bob, let me tell you, I've got this friend, Gary, and Gary is making X amount of money a year, and Gary showed me exactly what to do.

It's simple. You can do the exact same thing I did, because I just learned from Gary. It's a whole lot better than going through this long process about what you had to learn and what you had to become to be successful. There. is a tendency for some people to not want to talk to the people they know, but instead to buy Leads Leads of people who supposedly are interested in a better life. Well, let me just tell you why as a brand new person, you should never do that.

First of all, you think it's the path of least resistance, you're not going to be rejected by your friends and family, you're going to be rejected by a total stranger and you think that will be easier on you? Well, here's the pitfall in buying leads, a lot of times, you're going to spend money, sometimes 567 $8 per lead, you're going to spend money in many cases, you do not have to start prospecting. You think it's going to be an easy process. Somebody may give you a script or you're told these are great leads and these people are really interested. Many times these leads have been sold 1015 or 20, or more people and you might be the 20th person to call That lead. And let me tell you how bad it is.

You need to be prepared because when you call that person for the 20th time, they're not happy in most cases, I'll never forget, I was already making $100,000 a year. So I was already doing rather well, in my network marketing business was already extremely excited. And I've been in it for a few years. I call the lead one time and this woman answered the phone and it was a man's name. And I said, Can I talk to Bob? And she said, Who are you?

And I said, Well, my name is Scott Miller, what do you want to talk to him about? And I said, well, Ma'am, I, you know, and I, I mean, I just was not prepared for it. And she just destroyed me on the phone, said, You're not going to talk to him. He's not interested in one of those things. Well, he probably was at one time, she wasn't gonna let me talk to him. I'm just here to tell you that buying leads can be awful.

The reason or one of the reasons why you want to start with your warm market or people you already know, is at least most of the time. They're going to be nice. nicer to you than a total stranger. Most of the time when they reject you, it won't hurt as bad as being yelled at screamed at cost that you won't believe some of the things that can happen when you buy leads. Now there are a lot of people who say, oh, but Scott, you really should buy leads because these people are really interested. I'm telling you from my own personal experience that I did not buy leads until I was already making a lot of money.

And it was the best way for me to learn a very valuable lesson the hard way. I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying leads. It just didn't work for me. Now, could it work for you? Eventually? Possibly.

But let me just tell you this. If you're going to learn, wouldn't it be best to learn for free? You don't want to buy a lot of leads and try and communicate with people. Now. What there are a lot of people who say to me, Well, Scott, you know the exact words that's what I need. That's what I need, then talk about Do your upline find somebody who's in the game right now, who can tell you exactly what they say.

But let me also say this to you. It's It's so simple. We complicate this, or we make it so difficult and so challenging. In many cases, you probably can't say the wrong thing to the right person. In other words, somebody who really wants a better life, and somebody who knows at this very moment that they want a better life, you probably can't say the wrong thing to them. And I can also say this, you can't say the right thing to the wrong person.

No matter how good you are, the wrong person, a person who really isn't interested. They're just not going to be interested. No matter what you say. No matter how skilled you are, it won't matter. Let me also leave you with this thought in this lesson. There are a lot of people who say when I become successful, then it's going to Be really easy for me.

And, and you can take that so far you can say, well, Scott, when I know everything there is to know about the company, it's going to be really easy for me. Now the truth is, when you know everything there is to know about the company, you're probably already going to be ready to quit because you've been in the business for weeks or months and you haven't made any money. You need to approach people in your business right away the best way. Make a list of everybody you know, don't qualify anybody on the list. don't scratch anybody off the list. Let them say yes, let them say no.
