Did you hear the one about the anxious superhero, he was able to come to the worst conclusion in a single bound. He all joking aside, I want to talk to you a little bit about how to deal with social anxiety by laughing at yourself. It was an idea that I had come up with I actually stumbled on when I was watching someone who just seems so comfortable in their own skin. And they were able just to laugh at their own problems. And I was just so impressed by that. And I thought to myself, I want to be more like that.
I want to be able to laugh at myself. And then it dawned on me, Well, why don't I so the next time something came up, that creates some social anxiety in me a little bit of fear rejection, I would just start laughing at myself first, before somebody else could laugh at me. That did the trick. When I was able to do that. Then when they left it didn't matter because I'd already left them, optimized myself. A lot of our social anxiety comes from the fear of humiliation or embarrassment in a public setting.
So if you do it first, then there really is no offense. Also, you know, in the Bible it talks about God laughing at the problem. And before him, says in Psalm 3713, that he laughs at his enemies. I think we should be able to do that too. Sometimes we can become our own worst enemy. And we should just laugh at our own problems or laugh at the enemy that's trying to sabotage us from having healthy, fun, enjoyable relationships.
