Passive stance

From the passive stance, as you recognize the attacker's initial movement, blade your body using your nearside arm to deflect or, if necessary, absorb in the incoming strike.
Immediately counterattack using an opportune lower body or upper body combative or combination followed by a pretzel.

Low ready position
This defense may be used if you have your hands in a low ready position with your body bladed. This low ready position serves as both a de-escalation and prepared defensive position.

From the low ready position, rotate your front arm using a modified chop to deflect the attacker&rsquo;s incoming arms combined with a sidestep body defense.
The hand always leads the body by intercepting or deflecting the incoming strike a fraction of a second before the combined body defense follows.
