DESCRIPTION: Sucker punch defenses: Hand counter-attacks (orange belt)
Deadside movement

Riverside movement

Palm heel strike option

Similar to the previous Pre-emptive Side Kick defense, you may also step off the line of attack and counterattack using upper-body strikes such as body hook punches or chops to the kidneys followed by additional pretzel combatives. Note: In this defense, the attacker is facing the opposite direction.

From a passive stance, as you recognize the attacker begins to step and coil his shoulder, initiate with your left leg to step slightly off the line of attack to your left.
As you step with your left leg, bring your right leg with you.
Move (and remain) on both balls of your feet.
As you step off the line of attack use an outside rotational block or 360-degree instinctive defense to intercept and deflect the incoming punch.
As you deflect, be sure to bend your elbow approximately 70 degrees and rotate the outward 180 degrees to attack...
