DESCRIPTION: Straight punch defense: Straight punch L deflection (orange belt)
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
This defense, similar to the inside sliding parry, allows you to deflect an incoming straight right punch from either side while simultaneously moving away from the punch, trapping your opponent&rsquo;s arm and delivering your own straight punch counterattack to the throat, chin, or nose.

From your regular left outlet stance, your front left deflection arm, bent at an approximately eighty-degree angle, will lead the body to parry away the opponent&rsquo;s right straight punch while making a subtle sidestep.&nbsp;
The parrying movement covers no more than six inches and will lead the body defensive movement.&nbsp;
This is not an uncontrolled swipe or grab at the attacker&rsquo;s incoming arm (a common mistake when first learning the technique.) The defensive arm uses from pinky to elbow to deflect any change in the height of the opponent&rsquo;s strike.&nbsp;
