Kesa-Katami (side headlock or scarf-hold) defense.&nbsp;
The best release against this attack &ndash; like every other attack &ndash; is not to be put into it. Remember one of the most important rules of self-defense:&nbsp; whatever you can do to someone, with comparable training he can harm you. There are two similar defensive options.
Option #1

Tuck your chin to protect your neck.
Pivot your body away from the attacker's torso.
As you pivot away, fishhook his nearest eye with one or both of your hands.
Continue to pivot to create a positive angle for yourself forcing him to release you.
Continue with pretzel counterattacks as necessary.

Option #2

Once again tuck your chin to protect your neck while simultaneously striking the opponent&rsquo;s groin while reaching around to attack the opponent&rsquo;s eyes or filtrum.
