In this lecture, we're going to talk about what makes a good album cover. Okay? Now in order to do this, what you're going to want to do is pull up your Google account here, cool, pull up google.com and you want to search for album covers in your particular genre. So let's say that you do EDM music. We'll come over here to Google and type in EDM album covers. Okay, and then come to images.

Now, what we're looking for is common elements, okay, common elements, common themes. Now this take a snapshot over here. What are some common themes or common elements? Well, the first thing that I can see is there's a lot of color. Okay? That's that's one common element in EDM music or EDM, album covers.

There's a lot of color, vibrant colors, the various colors and not just necessarily one color, most of the time. Another thing is you can see, okay has a more of a futuristic and abstract artwork. Okay, so abstract and futuristic. That's another common element. Another thing is you have a basic dark background. Most of these are dark backgrounds, you don't see a whole lot of white backgrounds in EDM using C blacks, you see a lot of blues, or you might see them in some type of a space age type of environment.

And so when you're going to make your cover, you take these different elements, so you write down Okay, multiple colors, then you write down Okay, abstract artwork, and you write down a basic dark background, okay? And you write down futuristic, so then when you go back into your program, you know, okay, the first thing I need to find is a background. Okay, dark background. Then I need to find some type of futuristic type of abstract art with multiple colors, and then I could throw in some words each word in here in there, so you would do that with any type. onra that you that you work in within, so let's say hip hop. First thing you see here, actually, you see a lot of white backgrounds, okay, you see the person over here pose, posing, you know, saying look at all cool, whatever.

So you want to get you want to get one of your photos were you looking, you're doing a dope pose a cool pose, though that though some some type of artwork behind it. And there you go. Now in hip hop, you might have to go ahead and get that actually designed by a professional because, you know, say with something like this, this is not going to be an example of what you can do in Canva. You can't blur out the side of this person's face and have some trees and stuff like that coming out of them and then the city right here. So for something like that, you want to contract a professional graphic designer, but you can do some cool album covers in Canva. Let's look at pop pop music, okay.

Now what are some common elements if you look real quick, I can already tell you one of the common elements is that your there's always going to be a person's face or body that's going to cover most of the album cover. Let's look at Rihanna Siri loud. You know, her whole face is on here. It looks like they have some type of dimming effect on it. You have loud right here. And that's it.

That is her album cover. Pretty simple, right? We'll see what does this. So another person here taking up the photo, the whole picture pretty much you have a little white background and you have her name and our name of the album right there. Okay, and it goes on. Let's look at the Dale Adele is infamous for stuff like this and she always has her her face.

Okay, a background right here. And it looks like he has her name and 21 right here. Now look at these elements you can say okay, I like that is simple, it is clean, and it also has some variation. Okay, so those a different type of things that you want to be looking for. Do some research on your genre and see what's out there. And then of course, you want to have your own creative touch.
