Hello and welcome to a last lecture for introduction to virtual aviation course. This is the last lecture in this lecture we will talk about how to install the Microsoft Flight Simulator x team edition, we will talk about how to install it and how to do the settings. So now as the name suggests it is the steam edition so you can only buy it from a steam game marketplace. So then you can go ahead and download the steam and when you install the steam and open the steam software, you can go and search for Microsoft Flight Simulator x with your own account and you can download this a buy the software and download it. You can do that by by your own credit card or other payment methods that steam offers. So also you can Use the link that I put the resources section in the first lecture.

To find the exact same edition that I want you to download. You need to download only the pure version or the vanilla version. But you can also have some bundles that some bundles are really good in terms of a price advantage, but you can just buy the Normal Microsoft placement or x steam edition, that is enough. So you can click Add to Cart. And then it starts downloading when you when you buy it. You can go to your library and games and you can see other no other games and here you can select the game.

There should be an install button that you can see now from your library. After you click that it just asked for where to install it and it's my suggestion that a you You put it to some other partition than your own system partition in your computer. For example, if you're using C as a system partition, you should, according to my suggestion, you should install it in another partition only for Microsoft Flight Simulator x, that would ensure that did not date and all the documents are scattered across the harddrive. And not not scattered across and hard to find, but just in one place. But if you use ssts, which I recommend more, you don't need to do this at all because assistance have equal access times to every documents. When you said next then it just allocating space for the for the Microsoft Flight Simulator x.

And then it says now you can now it's now downloading you can go ahead to do whatever else you want to do. It's downloading in background. If you click the downloading thing, here You can see and which speed current speed peak speed and what is the total a size that is downloaded and gives the time remaining. So you can wait until it downloads itself. Now I will fast forward this part of the downloading part. Now it's downloaded and installed.

And when you double click on the shortcut on the desktop, this is the first thing that you will see. But mind you there will be some part of first installing also like a Microsoft some sort of a registerable things like libraries or other things. So this I can set the mute or switches on the interface music. So on the left we you can see all the menus here. So first, we have home menu it's basically a browser window within a within the software. So it shows the latest fly latest news latest products, things.

The maybe the most most used menu is the free flight. You can see that's the like four step thing. First you select the your aircraft, and then you select your location. And then you select the weather condition. And lastly, you select the current time and season. And then you can select more.

And you can see a 3d preview of the aircraft that you choose, for example is a microlight. So let's just click to number one and click Change to change an aircraft. You will see a list of a older aircraft available to you. On the far left, you can say select the manufacturer of the aircraft and then you can select the publisher that means sometimes You can install third party software for example pmdg Wilco or Iris softs, a custom made three third party aircraft which are more detailed than the default ones here. And you can select aircraft type here like glider commercial airliner, or regional jets, rotorcraft, and so on. You can select them.

So rotorcraft means basically helicopter kind of aircrafts. And you can see the previews of the aircrafts. But if you check this box, that means show all variation. So it will show all the variations of one one single aircraft for example, different liberties and different paintings. And if you click details here, you can see another preview of the of the aircraft. And there's a background information of the aircraft that you can read here and there's This tail number that you can change that's called registration mark or tail number that we call it is like a you know, registration plate for a for a car.

So in for four countries for example in Turkey all the registrations Mark start with T and C, and then with a dash and this last three letters can be changed. If you uncheck the total number, then it won't show but I prefer to have it checked. And if you would use the some of the default airlines of the flight simulator x, you can select them and enter the flight number. That would change the callsign of your yours and during the air traffic control. So when you first select an aircraft, this would only be comm this would ask on the first time to run some of the DLL files you can say yes to all of them, but you will do this only once. Now we change the location.

Now if you can the filter the old list by searching the name of the of the airport for example the airport, this is one way and then you can also use the airport ID or the IKEA code, you will you may remember their four digit IQ codes that we used and and last lecture and also you can search by the city you can search by the city you can write the name of the city and it will show all the airports in the in that city. For more filters more detail you can select from a lot of countries to you know, read redefine your search for example, we select the Greece if they would include state like united state you can select them, but if don't it's it would be disabled. Now you can select the city for example Athens, then when we select Athens, it's listed out Two airports that are registered in the Atkins.

That would be Lima golf Alfa Victor lF Tara's Venezuela's International Airport, which is a big airport. Also, this is really important that you can choose here the starting position of your aircraft. When you start simulation, where you will start if you select active runway that would select a name such as active runway, you can select the number of the runway here or you can select the gates here, for example, the gate heavy. When is click OK. Then this is the third step. So in weather, we have some weather teams that are pre determined determined teams you can select them. Also you can check the real word weather is why the internet connection, it just downloads the static information of the weather and applies it to the simulation.

So it's a real world weather happening right now. And if you select the second one, it would update in 15 minutes. But if you select a user defined one you can click customize to you know really small details at which altitude which speed of speed speed of wind, for example, so forth number now this is the selected time, you can select the time of the day, Dawn day dusk or night. So, like sunset or sun, sun rise, and you can select the local time or the Zulu time that will recall aviation times like Greenwich time, and you can select the season and also select the month and date from your own calendar in which day even you can select the date. Okay, let's click OK to that. Also, I want to to show one more fuel and payload, you can change the payload and the fuel of the aircraft payload means you know, passengers and cargo.

And this shows this cross shows the center of gravity of your aircraft. It shouldn't be out out of the you know, wings lines and you can save a pre configured flight like this and then load it later on. And also we have a flight planner. This is a really good feature I think. You can plan your own flight you can select a departure location, for example a port for departure, and you can select the destination a port, for example, we can select another a port but it wouldn't find because I didn't clear the filters. You can select click the filters, clear the filters and then you can write the IKEA code of attack airport and select it.

So from Athens to Istanbul flight by which flight type or IFR or VFR and then high altitude or low altitude when you click Find route, it would show on the map the the the the route of yours in the list you can see on right hand here and it will give you the recommended altitudes. Now there's an advanced a tip here When you click Now look, you can see estimated fuel ball then here, so you can select your own fuel and payload. And now there's another menu called mission menu. This is more simple. So if you, if you fly it the first time in your life, you can just follow this tutorials from one to 10. These are really good and they are really, you know, instructing you by an external voice.

But also there are some missions having some scenario and story, which are really good. For example, Hawaii in Checkout, if we click to go to briefing, it will lead us to the briefing. So it would take 45 minutes, we will use Mooney m 20. m Bravo, blah, blah, blah. And our mission was that and there are some details that you can use. And in the maps and charts, you can see real world maps and charts. You can also see the skill level of the mission and also you can print out this page.

So when we see the multiplayer page you can see here you can do multiplayer by the help of steam servers but these are not other IV or wet some kind of online a virtualization networks. Now this is the pilot records, it would give some rewards for your competing missions and in the logbook, you can see which aircraft you fly from where to when and also and also during the simulation by the key v Victor key, you can select a screenshot. So learning center basically an encyclopedia for flight simulator x, and it's really big you can select from the index or sitemap or key topics. For example if you if you're want to learn more about for example, IFR flight, you can click that and then you can see in English of course, a lot of information like like Wikipedia kind of articles, you can print Then read them later these are really good.

So before going to settings store when you click the store, you can see some of the add ons that can be purchased from Steam marketplace now we can come to settings which is the most important part. Now this is the simple interface that I will show you but I've also showed the customers so there are basic categories graphics, aircrafts, scenery like the wizard that you see weather simulation settings and traffic simulation set settings, some ships cause and other things. You can use the sliders here to select you know, a settings team like ultra high and do other things. If you don't do anything when you first open it, it would assess your hardware and select it own, you know, settings, but I would recommend it to you I would recommend going deep in customize. So you can click the Customize here. And you can see we have tabs, graphics aircrafts, seniors according to the teams that we talked about in a moment ago.

So, traffic weather. Now, these are really detail. So, this global settings me This is basically the same thing that we saw in the sliders, but we can select the some details here. Now I will go over them in detail now. Device means the graphic cards if you have more than one graphic card you can select the one of the integrated and the others are discrete, you should select a discrete one Nvidia or AMD one for example, target frame rate is the frame per second for the simulations. And you can do the limit Unlimited, but if you experience stuttering, you can lower it to 60 frames.

So as a recommendation, I have this a method you can just make the you can use the shift zet combination to see your frame per second FPS value on the left, left, top left here, it should be minimum 30 frames, but the ideal one is the 60 frames per second. So you can go ahead and change some graphics settings here, save it and run it and test it. And if it's you know lower than 30, then you can lower some settings. If you see they're so high, they're caught like near 200 you can then increase some of the graphics. So this is a trial and error matter, but it should be no lower than 30. And you can select the screen resolution and some filtering.

The best one is in search traffic. If you don't experience FPS droppings, you can select them. So traffic one, this is the anti aliasing one that would be the most consuming part in terms of FPS. If you don't have really high end machine, I wouldn't recommend opening it. So global texture resolution means the global textures quality is If you lowered it then the you would see muddy textures. So I would recommend to maximum unless you experience frame per second.

Droppings, I would recommend previewing DirectX 10 because it's not so optimized for it. If you open it that you can experience some bugs, lens flare is the you know when you use a lens or with a camera, when you look at the to the sun, you can see some you know, a effects of the sunlight. This is the sun lens flare, the light blue is the reflection of the light at view having light from behind. And advanced animation means like some car car movement and some ship movements and animal movements advanced detailed animations. So we go over to aircraft tab, you can select the default cockpit view if you select one of the default it would open with it. You can select Show tooltips if you using 3d Virtual Cockpit should check this high resolution thing and to the panel transparency some people would want to the panel to be transparent to show to see both you know ahead and some of the instruments and this is exterior settings.

If aircraft cast shadow on the ground on itself and the landing lights illuminate the ground, you can select them if you have high end mission you can select them all but most consuming one the this one aircraft shadows on stuff you can uncheck it to gain more performance. So most big big part is the senior and traffic that affect most the performance there. I wouldn't recommend to you know, a meddling with small details. I wouldn't I would recommend selecting global setting there. So this is the level of level detailed radios so in which range you would have detailed sceneries and A things mesh complexity is the terrains, 3d meshing complexity if you increase it, you would see detailed mountains for example, and the mesh resolution and then texture resolution basically the textures over the odd terrain you can think of like this state, it's downloading the Google Earth satellite images and like you know, tailors them as a texture on the world you can change this resolution.

So what effects means like when you get get near to do see you can see your own reflection and a better water effects you can select it land detailed textures as name such as like land the details, some of them could be more more detailed. Now it's also more consuming that the auto again density that means auto generated then scenery, so not all of the, you know, buildings and everything in the world is simulated one by one they're auto generated. So you can Adjust the sliders to complexity. If you lowered them that would that would really increase a performance. Ground senior shadows also, for example, buildings, a shadow to the ground, you would see it or not to special effects is also likely the animation and some of the cars and happening fireworks or waves. When you come to weather, this is the weather simulations account acting to simulate the weather.

So it's really a consuming in terms of performance. My suggestion is to select it medium high, it wouldn't change so much India in terms of visual things, one of the detailed ones to Claude Claude draw distance that means 96 kilometers, it would start a like it would show you to show you the clouds that at at maximum a distance of 96 kilometers. If you increase it, you would see that the claws that fall Farther away, if you select simple cloud this will like to the glass clouds but if you select detailed one, you would see the some of the 3d ones. And you can adjust the ratio which which one would be 3d. Now in the simulation settings, you can select this to download winds aloft data to it would download the real wind data to simulate it on on your own aircraft. That would be good for in terms of realism.

And you can check this to disable turbulence effect and not to experience turbulence, but I wouldn't recommend it checking this because it would impair the realism because it would increase realism so that would the rate at which weather changes. So if you don't select it as a real word weather like a weather team, you can select it to change itself you know over a period of time. This is not real word weather. So the last one is traffic. So you can select these are like AI traffic. So airline traffic other big aircraft or general aviation small aircraft traffic's and airport vehicles like follow me cars and baggage costs, you can select them here.

You can select the complexity by percentage there. And it would also consume some of the platforms. That's the one of the most most consuming, performance consuming coins. This delay labels that you can see for other traffic's if you see another aircraft in simulations, that would it would be cycling. And, for example, it would show in every second manufacturer other second model, other second distance and other second altitude and then returns a crop label. So you can select the cycle right there.

You can select the land and see traffic in the roads. You can see road vehicles, ships and ferries and some of the leisure boats. This would you can also click in every top, click this video set to default to return to defaults. Okay, so aside from that, I would I would want to show some of the other detailed settings. So it's sounds if you experience a lot of engine noise, you can lower on the engines here or open and close them all together. But also if you have another sound card, you can select the output of which device for example which sound card that would use the ATC.

So boys like radio voice, and the other than all other sounds in software, so you can select them for example, if you have a headphone that is connected to other separate sound card you can select voice for headphone that would be increased realism. When you click controls. If you bought both a joystick, you can come here and button keys. You can assign some of the shortcuts, but also So it's really educating. You can see which short which keyboard combination which keyboard shortcuts to what. Also, when you click to realism, it's really imperative it's really important, you should select always select heart not to select easy or hard medium, just to from beginning, you should select hot to experience the most realistic physic modeling and flight modeling Okay, and then you can ignore the crashes or detect decreases but I would recommend detect crashes because when you do something that would result in crash in real life it would show you in the in the also simulation also if you're using a a rudder paddle or joystick have a rudder access, you would uncheck this because this does the rudder tank for the aircraft I mean left or right steering of the aircraft by automatic, but I wouldn't recommend it in terms of realism.

As At last, we have to general thing, you can uncheck this pause on tasks which because otherwise if you you know, minimize it or open another, another a window in the in the during the simulation, it would pause itself automatically and it's really annoying. And also you can uncheck this to prompt the enabling or disabling the prompt and exit. Also, you can select some of the pilot voices, female and male pilot voices in this simulation. Okay, this is the end of our lecture. Now, it's also the end of our course if you watch this video, and not to skip it. Now, you can go ahead and check some resources and thank you for your time.
