Isn't that lovely? That's Time Square, in case you don't know it. I decided to go there on New Year's Eve wants because I had friends coming in town and I wanted to take them around the city. So I managed to get all the way around New York City during probably about five times that amount of people packed in that little tiny area. That's a sensory overload. And that's actually a slow day.

So we're going to talk about census here because this is something that we don't really talk about very much. If we're truly looking for mind, body and spirit unison, there's a lot that we're missing. It's not just the food that we're putting in our body. real transformation means that we're looking at the body as a whole. It's not again, exercise. It's not just food.

It's not just whether that food is organic, or GMO, non GMO, or if it isn't However, we also understand that our senses are very, very important and we're abusing them. TVs and movies can overstimulate your nervous system. As your mother has probably told you, that's why you don't want to watch TV before bed. They don't let you watch TV at least when I was a kid, you could have watched the TV while you were eating. Your mind doesn't really know reality versus television. Unfortunately, as smart as this brain is, it doesn't realize that what you're seeing is not really happening.

Has anybody here ever seen the movie cliffhanger? Okay, for those of you that haven't. Sylvester Stallone is a guy that saves people who are you know, out doing these adventures climbs and stuff like that and the opening scene. Mind you, it's a movie and my hands are already getting sweaty thinking about it. Because that's, that's what happens. He spoiler alert loses the person who's up on this huge cliff and they're going Process wire and fun stuff.

And then all of a sudden she falls my mind doesn't know that that's not reality. Now I'm scared of heights. Sure, but that's gonna bother anyone that's happening to you no matter what you're watching, unfortunately on some level, your mind thinks that that is real. Think of your home for a moment to just kind of mentally run around your house upstairs, downstairs all around a little bit. Do you have colors that are soft? Or they vibrant?

Like do you have pastel colors like these walls? Or do you have vibrant colors like this running around your house? What's on your walls? Is it nature? Is that your family? Is it colorful stuff?

It's not right or wrong? It's just asking you to kind of pay attention to that. So is your house an organized clutter or is it white glove vacant looking or is it just a plain old mess? That's what are the properties of what you have around Are there natural fibers or is everything plastic Mr objects, think of a spa. When you go into a spa Don't they have like soft music and they have water in the background because they have these different things dim lights. That brings a sense of calm doesn't have that at home, get like some incense, burn candles, you don't have to have lights on.

You can own them. You can have a spa. Our sense of touch your skin is a really amazing thing. It's actually the largest organ of your body. It's comprises 16% of your body weight to hot contains about 3 trillion cells covers about 16 to 21 square feet. And I have sensory adapters that feel touch, temperature and pressure.

Those are those things that tell you when you touch a hot stove to pull your hand back. Unfortunately, there are people that don't have that. That's a big problem. Infants die within two years without content If they were born completely mentally normal, so to speak, without touch they will have hairs 650 sweat glands, 100 sebaceous glands 78 heat centers 13 fold centers 40 blood vessels 60,000 sites at 1300 nerve endings your body temperature is an indicator of your level of complete wellness. If you have hands or feet that are constantly cold that means that you have some circulation problems your ears and scalp or radiators as well these all react to the outside temp and then tell your internal body what to do. Okay, it's really hot outside so I need to cool down a little bit.

How am I going to do that? You can help it by drinking water that does actually pull you down. Your skin protects you from weather pain, disease, water loss, it converts Look into that fabulous vitamin D and form scars. scars are actually. So then we have this thing of lights and temperatures. So most workspaces are nowhere near external temperatures.

When you walk into a grocery store when you walk into an office, typically, it's the opposite of what's happening outside. Now that's a good thing. But it's also unfortunately slightly that vitamin D deficiencies and seasonal depression can be reduced by going outside more especially in the winter, you're going to need to be out longer. In the summertime 15 minutes of sunlight will probably get you enough vitamin D for about three, four days in the wintertime because the sun's farther away. You're going to need to be out a little bit more and it's a little tougher because again, your body is covered up the dry air inside versus the humidity and temps outside taxes or body as soon as you walk inside or you walk outside. Your body now has to adjust to that in within a fraction of a second.

Ideal temperatures for our home around 65. In the winter, I know that's a little bit cool sometimes 75 in the summer, I know that sometimes it's a little hot for me. The humidity levels should be about 40 to 50% of clothing protects us from the elements. However, unfortunately, again, this is another one of those bittersweet things like air conditioning and heating. Studies show that those who were less are more active and are more sensitive to environments and studies that they've done in cultures that don't wear as much clothing or they're completely naked. They probably studied nudist beaches as well.

And those people just happen to be more sensitive. tight fitting clothing hinders the ability to breathe and detox when clothing is cutting off here. Like you have tight jeans like that huge fad that went on in like the 80s where all of our genes were really tight everywhere. It actually you can breathe in those. You can So it suppresses your breath, and detox because your skin is constantly detoxing. So when you're wearing tight clothing, it doesn't have any way to go.

Exercise caution in the sun, again, everything's moderation. years broad spectrum spectrum sunscreens. Unfortunately, a lot of some screens are not broad spectrum. That means that they're protecting a bu and ABB, I'm sorry, UVA and UVB rays, if it's a broad spectrum, because that's what you want, you don't want to just cover out the you UVA or UVB rays. And unfortunately, a lot of some screens also have chemicals in them they're known carcinogens. So we end up with more cancer because we put this stuff on and we're like, I don't want to say I can go outside for like four hours now.

Wear loose fitting clothing, wear hats, some screen sunglasses if you are in the sun because you do need to protect yourself. So our sense of hearing yelling I love you versing versus whispering you're a demon that has a different effect on you. I'm not gonna do it because there are other classes going on. But I promise you the last time I did this, I just yelled, I love you really quickly and everybody jumped. Doesn't matter that what I'm saying was nice. It mattered that I yelled at people because it's very abrasive, and it kind of shuts him down.

But when I whispered in my cat, like, she doesn't, she just hears that stuff. And she's like, okay, yeah, great, awesome, that would be doing this again. They have different effects on you. So it's not just what you're saying. It's how you're saying stuff to people that sometimes the biggest problem in communication that we have is how you're saying something, not necessarily what you're saying. So sounds can cure or create diseases.

Even if you listen to both rock music and classical music. I promise you, they're having different effects on you. You listen to them for different reasons. Songs can bring up road rage, a broken heart or turn your stomach from an unpleasant memory. Make sure it can. The Why the hell are we still listening to him?

Turn it off. You don't want to have unpleasant feelings when you're having music playing. Sound is the food of your soul. So what are we feeding our soul constantly? The sound level of our environment increases one decibel per year. That's really loud.

We all can kind of kind of control that by keeping our sound levels down, which is partly why didn't you just yell I love you. sound a little down for you. years earplugs headphones or ear muffs to diminish the sound levels. If you work in a place that's really noisy. Like if you're out there and doing construction. You have that jackhammer.

You notice they always have like ear muffs on or something because they have to. OSHA tells us there are slow psychological and physiological damages being caused by x Measure to loud noises and yet we just constantly go to rock concerts. Cuz they're fun. And they are. But there's a, there's moderation. So our sense of taste, probably one of my favorite senses of a second favorite, I'd say the next one is my first favorite.

You're telling is extremely sensitive with two to 10,000 taste buds on this little thing right there. Each one of those taste buds has 50 to 100 specialized cells that sense different flavors. So they're picking out whether it's sweet, whether it's salty, and all that fun stuff. These cells are then broken into subsets that taste the salt, sweet, bitter, sour, umami or astringent flavors. From what I've understood research is incorrect. And there aren't actually pockets of your mouth that have like, yo, you taste sweet food here, from what I understand all those cells work together to do it better Question is started when objects come in contact with those cells.

So as I'm going to discuss soon, cheery food, it's very important that food has actually be in your mouth for a good amount of time so that your taste buds can do what they're supposed to do, because those taste buds trigger your brain to release certain hormones. For instance, when you eat a sweet food, it triggers a release of insulin in your body so that you know your body goes oh, that's sweet. I need insulin. Let's shoot some out. That's how so it starts in your mouth. Better foods decrease your appetite as do pungent foods.

Hundred foods are anything that's really spicy raw onions, really spicy peppers. Anybody here a hot sauce week. ever noticed that when you eat a lot of hot sauce or really hot foods, you suddenly lose your appetite or your appetite decreases a little bit? Eat something spicy more? Let me know. I'm curious.

Because it does decrease it and bitter foods decrease your appetite because it's just, it's not a flavor that we normally like. Spoiled foods are often sour tasting. That's why most of us are wired to not like sour foods. I'm not talking to candies that are coated in sugar and are supposed to be sour. Sour foods are often spoiled. That's why when we eat them, there's an aversion to it.

It's just natural. This is actually my favorites. I mean sense. Our sense of smell. The fair sex we're more sensitive to smell is lovely. I'm sure there's a biological reason that I haven't studied yet, but we are more sensitive to it.

Maybe diverse. Perhaps. pheromones attract us to one another which is why our sex drive is actually linked to older perfumes. Why do we wear them? Why do people wear cologne Simple. How do you react to certain smells?

If I take a leaf of basil I'm done, completely relaxed. My job also is to make organic skincare and deal with essential oils. So I'm My nose is a little better trained than most people. So I do consciously pay attention to how smells, certain scents make me feel, but I want you to pay attention to that too. Like, how do the lights How do the sound? How do you know how does your environment affect you?

Like our tongue The nose is a source of warning and pleasure. You smell something? Do you want to go towards it? If it stinks, you don't want to go towards that garbage that has like 40 rotten eggs in it. Do you know the other way? That's a normal reaction.

That's what we want. You have a rose. What's the instinct now because we know what a rose looks like. You see one and you're like, Oh, awesome, because that's what you know is that your office factories system is tied to our limbic system, which is our set of emotions. So that's why when you smell certain things, it directly affects you. You don't really stink I just wanted to get your attention is your calm.

Your body emits odors specific to you based on what you ingest your environment, the sense you were and your emotions. So it changes from day to day changes from month to month, depending on what you're wearing and all kinds of other factors. We know that there are certain nationalities, Asian Indians, I worked for one, he smelled like curry, because they eat so much of the curry leaf that it does come out your pores. I've had clients who can't eat garlic because it comes out their pores and when they're working with people, they didn't want to smell like garlic. I don't mind but I understand it's not always appropriate. So you do have a specific odor and how your body reacts to it.

Some people can eat garlic perfectly fine and the problem with it coming out force. So, when your pet rubs up against you, you think it's real cute, right? They're rubbing up against you because they love you now. They're getting their stink all over you. Anybody ever like petting a cat? I'm sure dogs do something similar but we have cats.

So that's what I'm familiar with. You pet a cat, you snuggle with it and give it kisses and then all of a sudden it starts cleaning itself. What he does not like your smell while he is trying to get that smell off of you her and trying to get her own scent back on it. Our sense of sight, quite frankly, is the most used sense that we have. It's also the most underappreciated sense that we have. We don't realize what a gift it is until perhaps you lose it for a few minutes or you close your eyes.

And sometimes meditation helps with this because you just close your eyes and go No What if I had to get around a house right now? And I couldn't use my eyes and then you'll suddenly appreciate more. Walking meditations make us a witness to everything nature has to offer. Walking meditations are real simple. All you do is you walk around and you're consciously silent and consciously looking at what's around you. You're observing the trees but not just the tree.

What's the tree bark look like? How big is the tree? What are the tree leaves look like? How spread apart are the branches? Are there birds on it? Is there grass is there dirt.

That's what a walking meditation is. introverts are more sensitive to lights and sounds. So going to a grocery store or going to Walmart going back to that time square image can be really really overwhelming to certain people. Vision is how we gain the majority of our input in the world. So much in fact that the words knowing and seeing are often used interchangeably. Candle gazing again is an excellent way to rest your eyes.

That's the one I told you about earlier when you just look at a candle Just watch the flame. Seeing is something that we allow, we do not need it for survival. Anybody here non blind people, they survived perfectly fine, sometimes better than us, other senses kick in. But it's something that we allow, which is just an interesting concept. poor vision is a breakdown of the body occurs because of our lifestyle. Vision is one part genetic, two parts spiritual.

You'll you may hear me say this a couple of times, your genetics do not determine your life. Their DNA is really, really complicated. There are about 20,000 different genes in our body that all work in different ways. Those switches turn on or off, depending on how you live your life. If you live in a high stress life, you're going to turn on more chances for family diseases or problems like that. If you choose to live a more healthy life, you turn those diseases off again.

That's why I do what I do because I'm not going to By the time I'm 50, like my parents, I'm trying to, I'm not trying, I'm consciously shutting off those genetic markers so that that doesn't happen to me as well. You can do the same thing. Relaxation is the key to healing your body, including your eyes, your eyes need rest. You ever noticed that like when you're on a computer too long or you read too much or something like that your eyes start to actually burn a little bit. They need rest just like anything else. experiments have proven light increases milk yield and cows exiting production and chickens and increases plant life.

Natural light is really really healthy. fluorescent light. fluorescent lighting actually is unattractive. Anybody here look good in fluorescent lighting. Fabulous but like when you look at yourself and you're here, do you look at it and go I am so hot in this fluorescent lighting. I'll put it in like clubs and bars and things like that.

Hopefully fluorescent lighting also there's a noise that's emitted which you can't really hear in these but sometimes you can hear like that that faint buzzing it actually decreases the your attention span and increases erratic behaviors causes chromosome mutation and stimulates cancer growth. terrible thing for little children who have like, short attention spans as it is. Light pollution is an often overlooked phenomenon. If you've never heard of the documentary city dark, I highly recommend it. They talk about light pollution in there and how serious it is and how we can actually stop adding to life motion. It's a lot better up here in Maine than it is in Time Square.

I promise you
