Connecting on Twitter

Twitter can be used much like Facebook, only you have more direct access to people on Twitter. You can easily connect with them, and you want them to connect back. Check out who they’re following and retweeting. Try creating a public list and adding them to it. For example, “TV directors I’d love to work with”, or something like that. Once they’ve been added they’ll get a notification and possibly check out you and your list. This keeps you and your name in their peripheral awareness over time, getting you onto their radar.
Keep your target list broad, because there are far more people in the industry on Twitter than some other platforms. And don’t worry if you don’t get a reply. Just keep at it, consistency is key. Keep your big picture in mind and remember we’re using broad stroke here. It doesn’t matter if a specific person reaches out or agrees to read your work.
