This lesson will focus on your personal identity and your primary purpose in life. You'll find it on page three of the workbook. We're going to be moving now from the principles of development and planning to the assessment phase of the process. We're going to look at your roles in life and what your primary purpose is in life. This sounds easy, but it's really kind of hard work. That's why most people don't do it.
So I encourage you to embrace this process. I believe it will make a huge difference in your life. Now, what roles Do you play in life? As I said, we all wear many hats. What are your most important roles? They form your personal identity, it's who you are.
And personal identity is a very powerful motivator. What are your roles? You see a few here related to family and work and other things you might be involved in and ask You come and put this list together, you will begin to see your personal identity. I think we need to complete the I Am A statements. And I'll show you what mine are in just a minute and encourage you to write your own. And then everybody, I believe has a primary purpose in life.
Now we have many purposes, but there's one that's primary. And I'm going to encourage you to think about what that is for you. What is your primary purpose in life? You see, roles tell tell you what you do. Purpose tells you why you do it. What is your primary personal purpose in life?
What motivates you to take action throughout the day, your primary mission remains stable throughout your life. It will change but it's very, very stable. Here are my personal identity statements and my primary purpose in Life just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, first of all, I am a child of God. I am a family leader. I am a teacher and a coach. I am a writer, and I am a healthy person.
This is how I perceive myself in what I do. And from that I have identified my primary purpose in life, to help people learn, grow and develop. And so everything I do in life, I kind of look at it through that lens to help people learn, develop and grow. Now, don't ignore or underestimate who you are, and what you do. How you perceive yourself and knowing your primary purpose are critical. They motivate you.
They help you make decisions about how you will invest your time and your resources. carefully consider them and write them down. Now on page 28 You have the beginning of a workbook. And here you can complete your I am statements. I am a, whatever you would like to put into those blanks. And then once you've done that I want you to step step back and look at them and think about your life and try to write down what you believe to be your primary personal purpose, because this will guide you in a very great way.
Now our next lesson is going to be focused on the fact that you are a whole person
