This lesson is all about what's behind the curtain of your life. This is a most important topic, because we all create facades or life masks or false fronts. Your facade is created by how you act, your decisions in life and how you treat others. Our goal should be to be 100% authentic. We're so concerned about what people think and how they perceive us. Our facade is how we want the world to really see us.
Most believe they have a role to play to be successful and respected, and we work hard to build this persona. However, our facades do not increase our value to others, because people want authenticity. The effects of facades are devastating dating. Because facades by definition are fake. It's not who you really are. It's how you want others to perceive you.
The less authentic we are, the lonelier we become. We need to identify our facades and let them down. We need to try to live a life of honesty, and integrity. That's what people want. On page 31 of the workbook, there's a place for you to write down your thoughts about how people perceive you, how you want them to perceive you, and whether you are truly authentic. Do people see you for who you really are?
Because that is the goal. The next lesson will focus on what your gifts and talents are in life.
