The routine starts with an opening movement. Below are the instructions for this movement.

Neutral Position

Feet: Shoulder width
Arms: Upper arm hanging by side with elbows bent towards the belly
Knees: Slightly bent
Stand tall and relax your whole body.
Soften your knees and place your feet firmly on the earth
Hold head upright and tuck the chin in every so slightly
Relax your shoulders

Movement:
Put both hands on your belly
Close your eyes
Inhale so that you feel your belly rise beneath your hands
Exhale and count one as you do so
Continue to inhale and exhale in this way until you reach 10 counts
Pick up the stick and bring it to the neutral position
Breathing in slowly raise the stick in front of you and then over your head
Hold it
Breathing out slowly lower the stick towards the neutral position
Stand in a neutral posture until you feel your energy settle
