Visual aids, what are visual aids? Well, it's anything that aids you visually. So you as a public speaker, you want to communicate a message. So you use visual aids to help you communicate that message, plain and simple. Do not ever play to your PowerPoint, or to your notes, little notes and your PowerPoint play to you. If you're going to have a PowerPoint presentation, it is exactly that.

It's just a point. You want people to see you. You want them to hear you, and you just have points on your slide. Now, I've always used PowerPoint. I'm a Toastmaster, I am a competent communicator. I've been trained I have spoken 1000 times.

And I love PowerPoint. But now I'm back to whiteboards. We are actually communicate my message where I can chop and change because sometimes when you're following a PowerPoint, and it's step by step, your audience shifts pace, you might say a joke, somebody gets up and leaves and all of a sudden, the atmosphere changes. And you have to adapt to that atmosphere. So when I'm stuck to a PowerPoint, I have a bit of a problem. Because if there's a phone call or interruption, and I've got to go back to the PowerPoint, where do I go?

So if I know my talk really, really well, if I know my speech really, really well. I can go from one to 10 789 12 whatever I need to do my intent behind my message, all of this plays to that message. So I find myself writing on this board. But one thing I must let you know is you are actually the message this is your best prop that you could ever use, the way you use your hands, the way that you speak your eyes, your expressions, every single move you make is a visual aid. And as we discussed in body language is that you will use the language of your body to be an aid to what you're saying to be an aid to communicate. Now in full communication, you will learn on what that is all about.

You knowing that I like the color blue is not the point. The fact that I get across to you is not the point. There is a complete cycle of communication and you need to go learn that visual aids are just there to aid you visually. And if you're going to use PowerPoints and if you're going to use whiteboards, make sure your audience the distance and everything is sufficient that you're drawing over here or using a pen like I'm using and the audience have to be like this to see it. It's just an aid It must not become your presentation It must not become you. You are the message they can get the notes afterwards, you can email it to them.

But you must remember, it's all about you and how you communicate. These are just your eight here is man
