Now we have come to the last section of how to make an excellent PowerPoint presentation and in doing so leave an impressive mark. We are in the last section, and this section has to do with choices, example slides and example top. choices are related to options we have when making or preparing for a talk most of these choices are personal but some choices are made because of the common use of the same unless you would like to be different and that's fine as well. Example slides are shown to help one prepare oneself better for the talk. Example talks are a practical way for me to show all I have mentioned some of this stuff has been or will be repetative. However, the same aspect would have been covered in different angles and does it had to be addressed as such.

In other words, the factor had to be discussed from different points of view. When choosing or thinking of a title for the talk, we need to ensure that it summarizes the data title should be as concise as possible and yet meaningful. The title could suggest an influence and impact or a significant stuff are finding. It could be informing of the cause of an event or it might represent the effect of a process on another process. Then, after the title of the talk, the title for each slide is important also. These need to be sentences That could show the result of an experiment a question the answer to which will be shown in that slide or it could be a summary slide.

So, the title should summarize what the slide is trying to show sizes of design and color, when making the presentation I design for the slides has to be chosen. This design is definitely related to the purpose of the talk. In other words, if it is a festive entertainment type of a talk then the designs can have more of it in in the slide itself, being flowery so to speak, but if it is a formal thesis defense or such formal type of Talk it's best for it to be playing with a simple design such as this one shown in this course. The main point when choosing a design is that it should not interfere with reading our data. When choosing colors, one has to think of the color of the background and the color for the letters. The obvious option being black letters over a white background as I have used over here this contrast is best I would say for thesis defense or a dissertation defense.

However, for usual seminars I at times prefer dark yellow set of letters over a dark blue background. Another option is white letters over purple background. Some contrast may make it actually harder to read. So keeping in mind choose Well, the colors for your background and your letters. The main point when choosing designs and colors is to have a good contrast. When making a presentation, one also has to choose the type of font and size.

The font could be such as area, as it is shown over here used in this PowerPoint presentation. It could be Calibri but please do not use Times New Roman because it's used more for Word files. Also avoid cursive type of these fonts are designed type of fonts. That makes reading hard for the audience. So make sure that the title and the text fonts match each other In other words, each slide should have both the title and this text of the same font. Now, when it comes to the size of the font, choose a 36 or more for the title for the content or the body, you can use a minimum of 28 If possible, this allows your audience some of whom may be sitting way in the back to see clearly, as you probably have gas grasped by now, choices have to do with a combination of good judgment and personal preference and sample slides.

Now look at let us look at those. The next set of slides will show an outline slide. This type of slide gives an outline of the overall talk but you can use part of that outline further down in your talk. Further, later on that is to show what is upcoming in your talk for the next set of slides as a reminder for the audience. It will also show example of placement of data and wording and the use of bullets and arrows. And transition slides, the ones that help connect one slide to the next.

Our client slides are slides that give an overview of the topics to be covered in the presentation. Here is an example of an outline slide for a research proposal. It starts by stating the background and significance of the project. It includes the hypothesis, of course, the NGO goals that are objectives and specific aims. The design which is experimental design, the preliminary research That means the earliest and first results that have been obtained so far the conclusion from those results and future goals which have to do with with further experiments to be done. You could summarize the data on one side of the slide and explain it in length pinpointing the work you have done to support that data on the other slide.

Shown here is a very brief example, noticing the beta one beta two and alpha h structures, which are shown here as beta one, beta two and alpha four and n Terminus and the C Terminus and that are shown over here the C Terminus and the N terminus of this which is representing the crystals Structure of ASP c that is all SPC outer surface protein C of borrelia burgdorferi. These numbers of course have to do with the details of the project. Transition slides, these are slides that tend to connect one topic to the next to maintain a storyline. example could be a statement since we have come to know that Lego proteins can change according to the horse they are in. Now, let us look at how that happens. Another way to make a statement, now that we have seen how life of proteins can be regulated, now, let us look at how this helps the parakeet survive in different types of hosts.

Transition slides could be questions We have observed that takes can be found in diverse host environments. But how could that affect humans? The transition slide could be a slide in itself, introduce the audience about slide, I mean takes and then go over the life cycle of pigs as a connecting slide and explain what stages of the take are related to the transmission of infection to humans. In conclusion, As you have noticed, a lot goes into a presentation it starts with the topic and the person delivering the topic that is the presenter. The delivery of the presentation has to be deliberate with set goals and and the content has to be focused practice which has to do with preparation for the talk, reminding yourself that there needs to be a take home message and of course, being careful with your time limits. And then finally, a good time of rest and sleep at night, the night before the talk or at least a few hours before if it is during the later on during the day and confidence of course, you know the subject matter.

Remember you have been preparing for this one in one way or the other directly or indirectly and your time has come. Example talks. As you know, there is nothing better than a practical way to show things so added to the question are two example talks that are actually part of a lecture series that can be used as seminars. The first one is entitled The history of microbiology in a nutshell. This is a 10 minute talk that includes examples of transition slides. The second is the debate over spontaneous generation.

This is a 14 minute talk. That is, has examples of titles for slides, and a nice conclusion slide. I hope that this course has provided you with many resources and ideas to become better prepared to talk in front of audiences and feel comfortable enough to focus and on the talk, and on the subject matter, and prepare yourself well enough to earn excellence in public speaking, and therefore leave an impressive Mark On the audience
