Welcome. This course is about how to make excellent PowerPoint presentations, and does leave an impressive mark on the audience. At some point, during your studies or at work, you probably will have the need or you would want to use some kind of presentation to share with others your findings. The setting could be a classroom, a scientific meeting, it could be a business meeting, or speeches such as health related speech, political speech or promotional speeches. For this reason, although overhead projectors and document cameras can be used, on such occasions with the advancement of technology, new methods of presentation have been developed. One such advancement in software that Lippman is PowerPoint by Microsoft.

This is a powerful presentation software that is actually part of Microsoft Office Suite, which includes MS Word and MS Excel among other productivity tools. Some of the older versions of PowerPoint for Windows state back to 2007 and 2010. I'm using PowerPoint 2013 for windows in this course. Now the latest version is there a PowerPoint 2016. And it's unique in that this program allows you to share your presentation with others directly so that editing can be done by others as well. The course does have the aim to develop basic presentation skills for who do not have any experience with giving talks and to remove anxiety related to public speaking.

But its main goal is to provide several strategies that will help make the presentation of excellent quality. Ultimately, the main purpose is to provide well proven ideas and strategies for the speaker and therefore prepare him or her to give an excellent presentation in such a way that the targeted audience has a take home message. During my graduate studies, and at work, I have had the opportunity to present my data at several scientific meetings. at quite a few of these meetings. I had one excellent or exceptional presentation awards. Which three are mentioned over here.

An exceptional presentation award at the southeast regional institutional development meeting held in washington dc in 2009. one of three excellent oral presentations by graduate students awarded at the fourth annual Petro biological sciences graduate students symposium held at LSU in 2008. And the McCleskey award for PhD student for excellent presentation at the American Society for microbiology meeting at ul in Lafayette, Louisiana 2006. All together, I have given over 15 presentations during the course of my studies. And that was work at all different levels from local to national level. I am convinced that it was my performance in the subject matter. My preparation for the talk along with a deliberate clarity in communication that have opened the door of opportunity for me to earn those awards.

Now, I would like to share those skills with those who are interested in learning and applying the same skills in their seminars.
