Welcome to Embodying the Elements

I'm so glad you're here. Generating intentional relationships with the elements of nature is one of the first and primary steps on the path of soul-work, of deep interpersonal healing. The elements help us enhance the ability to experience our full selves, and become indispensable allies as we walk our soul's journey of life. 

While this information has been gathered and accumulated from many years of studying the elements, much of it is my own personal take on how these elements align with the body. Other people place different associations on the organs or aspects of the body. One is not “right.” I offer my personal lens and perspective as a way to engage with the material.

I strongly recommend you consider your own insights into how the elements interface with your body, as well as appear in your life. We all have bodies, and this gives us all credibility when exploring this work. You may disagree with how I categorize. There are inherent flaws with any hard categorization of a complex system. It is never black and white, never 100% clearly delineated. Understand that there are endless nuances of the body and the elements. They can overlap and interweave. For simplicity’s sake, I don’t explore much of this through the course, but I encourage you to keep this in the back of your mind as we proceed. 

The Elemental System we're working with here distinguishes 4 basic elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. There are many different ways to explore the elements and many different traditions that have other ideas of what the basic elements are. Each and every system of thought is pertinent and worthy of study. For me, I am most drawn to and knowledgable about the 4-element philosophy of my ancestry that comes from the Celtic tradition emerging from what is now Ireland, Scotland, and England. This is what we will be working within this course.

Course Overview

For each of the four elements you will receive:

  • A guided meditation for embodying and healing with the element (15 minutes in length)
  • A PDF handout explaining the qualities and associations of the element and reflection questions
  • A list of “actionables” that you can explore and incorporate in your days to help with the embodiment and healing process

You will have a week to focus on and explore each element before the next one is available. This will allow your relationship to deepen and become integrated into your body and your perception.  And with that, I leave you to explore the elements. Be curious. Keep an open heart, mind, and body. May the elements work with you and through you, helping to soothe, cleanse, enliven, clear, and heal all that needs attention.
