Static pain or sciatica usually happens to the elder population. However, it can also happen to middle aged or even younger individuals. They're just far less aware of it. sciatica is usually expressed as a shark or shooting pain down the outside of one leg, or both legs but more commonly one. It can also be portrayed as a numbness or tingling feeling outside the leg as well. The causes of scat occur are pressure, trauma, or inflammation, any type of damage caused to the sky attic nerve.

Now the sky attic nerve is the longest nerve in our body. It comes out of the spinal cord in our lower back and goes down the outside of the leg. Symptoms of sciatica can happen anywhere from that root nerve at the lower back, down to the toes, of either leg. If you feel that you have scatter, you can do a few tests at home to see and make sure if you do or don't. One of the tests is very easily and involves a friend. Lay down on your back and have your legs relaxed in a straight position.

Have your friend come and lift one of your legs as high as they can slowly. If as that leg is being lifted, you feel pain in your lower back. That is a positive sign for sciatica. It's always very important to repeat this test so that you can compare both legs and see if one hurts more than the other, which is common in static paint. herniated discs might be one of the causes of scatter, but it's not the only cause. There are other causes as well.

I want to talk about one of the rare causes. However, there is a significant part of the population suffering from sciatica That will suffer from this subset. And this is called piriformis syndrome. Now, piriformis is a muscle on your buttocks that runs from the outside of the hip right into the middle. The sciatic nerve sometimes passes through this muscle and when this muscle tenses, it will cause pain in the sky optic nerve. Now, this can portray itself just as we mentioned before with weakness, tingling, or pain shooting down the outside of your leg.

But it's important to differentiate between these two things, because the treatment will be different. There are a few tests that you can do at home to differentiate between the two the two types of pain. The first one you can do by yourself, or you can ask a friend to help you with it. Lay down on your stomach, with your body flat on the ground. What you want to do is you want to put pressure on your piriformis muscle, which is right at the cushion of one of your buttocks. really put pressure in there with your knuckles if you can.

And as I mentioned earlier, the most important thing is to compare between both sides. If you have piriformis syndrome, as you're pressing it on the muscle, you will feel that static pain as you're used to feeling it, whether it portray itself as tingling, weakness, or a shooting pain running down the outside of your legs. The other way to differentiate was the test that we previously mentioned, called the leg lift. As you're laying down on your back, have a friend come and raise one of your legs and see if you feel pain as it gets to the end of the end of your range of motion. Of course, you want to compare both legs to make sure that one and the other don't feel the same that is considered a positive test. So if the pain is in your lower back as you're lifting your legs, that's more suggestive of schematic of a knot of piriformis syndrome.

If you have tenderness and it hurts as you're pressing into your piriformis muscle. This is more suggestive of piriformis and this subset of sciatica. All right, we're going to close this subject here about scatter. If you have any questions about schematic pain, the static nerve, the anatomy or this type of injury, be sure to write them on the page or on our Facebook page@facebook.com slash mid screen SEO and we'll see you in the next video.
