Before I show you the ultimate onion chopping technique let’s get on the same page about an onions anatomy and some basic terminology. Onions are essentially a layered sphere with a root end and a top end. 

For now, keep the root on and I will explain later for which cuts are beneficial and for which ones it's not
Assignments:

Practice until you feel comfortable with this. Peel at least 5 onions as we will use them in the lessons to come.
Save the scraps where you will find recipes on the bonus section to use
