DESCRIPTION:

Service dog etiquette lesson 1: Talk to the person, not the dog
I have had dogs all of my life and have a deep love for my pet pups. A few years after my brain surgery, I decided to put my love for dogs to good use. I applied for and received a service dog from Canine Companions for Independence. This organization breeds, raises, and trains dogs to be of service to people who need them. They are provided for free to recipients. Once I realized that my love of dogs was a valuable resource, I accepted Gromit into my world. He has changed my life in many ways, most notably allowing me to go places alone. He is also the model in the "What's Up Doc?" lesson.
