DESCRIPTION: Mimesis: a term used in literary criticism and philosophy that carries a wide range of meanings, including imitation, nonsensuous similarity, receptivity, representative, mimicry, the act of expression, and the act of resembling. In ancient Greece, mimesis governed the creation of works of art. Creating art corresponding to the physical world was a model for beauty, truth and good. Diegesis: a style of fiction storytelling that presents an interior view of a world in which details about the world and the experiences of its characters are recounted explicitly through the narrative. Diegetic elements are part of the fictional world, as opposed to non-diegetic elements which are stylistic elements of how the narrator tells the story.
