This video is on the good habit of charity and donating. This is one of eBay's best kept secrets. Did you know that you can actually donate a portion of your sales to a favorite charity of yours? Well, it started after the Katrina hurricane, and many eBay sellers wanted to help. So eBay started something called giving works. You can designate a portion of your sales 10% all the way up to 100% to be donated to your favorite charity.
There is a long list of 501 c charities that you can choose from. The best part is that all the collecting and payment happens behind the scenes. Once your sale is finished, you will get an email we're actually an eBay message saying that you You've completed the sale and a portion of that sale is going to your charity. They will do all the legwork and make that happen. It's awesome. Another advantage of using the eBay giving works is that let's say that you're going to select 20% to go to Alzheimer's, then 20% of your listing fees are waived.
What can be that? Your listings will have a little designation of a ribbon in blue and yellow, so that all the buyers can see that this is going to be helping others. I try to pick a different charity per month and designate five to 10 minute listings to go to that charity. It feels good to be able to help others. A question that I get a lot is what do you do with all the stuff that doesn't sell? Currently, I have about 100 items in my eBay store and it's time for me to donate.
I go through my listings and see which ones haven't had any sales in quite a long time. Time, I will end those listings, put the items in a box and take them to my local Goodwill. The good news is the goodwill box is located at the back of the parking lot where I do my grocery shopping. So after I donate, I go buy stuff for dinner. That's what I call multitasking. Depending on where you live, you'll have many choices to donate to.
It could be a local church, or local school, or a library, or the Humane Society or goodwill or the Salvation Army. Wherever it is, don't forget to ask for a tax receipt. It can help you on next year's taxes. donating is a real mood booster. It clears out some extra items and you've helped people to one of my favorite charities in the San Francisco Bay area is called one warm coat. at Christmas time I go through my closet, find all the coats that haven't been worn in a while.
Put them in a bag, take them to the donation spot and get a tax receipt It feels really good bill to help people during wintertime. Another way that I like to donate is to go through all my listings of toys at Christmas time, and give all the new and packaged items to Toys for Tots. There are a number of donation barrels that you can drop your items off into. I've donated bikes and computers and household items, and of course dead tennis balls, along with toys and clothing and boots and coats. So whatever you have extra of or things that haven't been selling for a while, don't forget to make a donation. And while those listings are up, don't forget to use giving works so that you can designate a certain charity to get a percentage of those sales.
There are many ways to help others using eBay. So after cleaning out all those things and donating them to your favorite causes, you're going to have more room for new items to list. And remember fresh inventory sells best. So get donating and don't forget Get to help your local charities
