My key learning points from this course then the interview skills balance sheet is a way you can use your accounting brain to prepare for job applications and interviews. It's a structure that fits in with our mindset as accountants, so use it. Your fixed assets in the interview skills balance sheet, or your engrained skills, experience and capabilities, your qualifications, your in depth experience, your proven projects and so on. Your current assets are your emerging skills and capabilities, unique acquired experience, recent or ongoing projects, developing skills and so on. Your current liabilities or your skills gaps. Think of a way that you can present them in a positive light if you're asked about any skills gaps, your long term liabilities are you constraints.

For example, unwillingness to relocate family or care responsibilities and so on. These are not liabilities as such, but they will restrict your ability to apply for certain jobs. And we will restrict the type of role that you're willing to apply for your shareholders funds or your interests, your achievements, and your social capital, involvement with professional Institute's or industry bodies, published works, conference presentations, your hobbies and interests as they're relevant to the job, and so on. So plan your interview. Review the job description thoroughly against your interview skills balance sheet. Check out the organization thoroughly as well.

Find out about the people who are interviewing you. Look at the Street View to find out where the place of the interview is. Plan your travel and arrive early so that you can do some final preparation. You can control the nerves by getting excited about working for this organization. Get Interested in its culture and in the role, and when you arrive, be pleasant to everyone, build and maintain rapport with everyone you meet, particularly the interview panel, and prepare a brief opening statement that you can make to start to bond with the interview panel. Remember, during the interview, they will be most motivational and situational questions.

So prepare for both types. And you can buy time by checking your understanding of the question or reflecting it back to the interview panel. If there are any curveball questions, roll with them stay relaxed answer by relating your experience to the question by yourself reflection time by commenting or laughing or chuckling or something like that. And you should prepare some closing questions for the interview, again, to help build rapport with the panel and to show that you're really interested in it. Of course, if you don't get the job, it wasn't meant to be but if you really wanted to ask for feedback and plan for a rematch in nine months or 12 months time, or whenever the next suitable role comes up when you've developed your skills and experience in the areas that that organization wants. So plan ahead for the interview process and for your job applications.

Make an inventory of your experiences right now. Write a short case study for each project that you've worked on. Prepare your interview skills balance sheet and your CV. Most importantly, what type of role really interests you? And what do you need to do to be ready for it? What skills do you need?

What mindset do you need? What other areas do you need to develop? And what type of employers offer that type of role? How can you get yourself in front of them, start to follow them on social media. Try to make contacts through industry bodies, or through any friends or relatives that you have. Get Get started, get ready, and be the best interviewee that you can possibly be.

Thank you. And that's everything. That's interview skills. So thank you for your time. I hope this has been helpful. As I say, I have some rehearsed typical accounting interview questions in the next section.

And all that remains for me to do is to thank you for taking this course. I am Ross Maynard. I hope it's been helpful to you. I hope it helps you prepare for your job applications and for your interviews. Good luck with them. And hope perhaps you'll look at some of my other courses as well.

Thank you very much. Goodbye.
