Hey everyone, welcome to the activity solutions lecture. You were given a few situations, and your job was to identify the use of pool system for those situations. I hope you have completed the exercise and added your answer to the q&a discussion board. Let's review the solutions now. Situation one, you are setting up the storage area for supplies of first aid medicines in your organization. When setting up the first aid, you have to ensure that one, the storage area doesn't run out of medicines and two medicines are replaced before their expiry date occurs.

As a lien expert, how will you execute this situation using the pool system? option one, you will use little laminated cards called as the can bank cards or Kanban cards that say when they should be triggered. For example, when the cough syrup reaches one Quarter full, the cough syrup can ban is put into a coffee can. Similarly, when medicines are two months away from their expiration date, you use another Kanban card to replenish that item. Option two, you will set up a regular review and audit mechanism of all the medicines in the first aid kit. on a monthly basis, a member of the organization will review if the medicines are expired or have been run out.

Guys, given the two options, I hope you have chosen option one as the correct use of pool system. You will learn more about Kanban cards in the upcoming section. Having said that, this option clearly indicates that replacement requests should be sent as soon as the cough syrup reaches a particular level. This is also true for replenishing the medicines that are reaching their expiration date. If you would have chosen option two, there is a possibility that the medicine may run out or be expired before the next audit takes place. situation to your organization has recently started a back office process.

This business process involves responding to customer emails. It's a critical component of your organization. The emails from your customers accumulate in a shared mailbox. These emails need to be responded within 24 hours and with 100% accuracy. How will you set up this process using the poll system? option one, you will create a process where the supervisor will allocate work to his team members.

For example, if the process receives 200 emails and there are 10 team members working, the supervisor will allocate 20 emails per team member. Option two you will create a project Where each team member is allowed to pick up emails from the queue as soon as they finish responding to their current email. In this case, the supervisor doesn't allocate work, he only monitors the team members are performing at the right pace and following the process with complete legitimacy. so in this situation, the first option is an example of a push system. When a supervisor allocates a number of transactions to the team members, he or she is basically pushing these transactions to their subordinates situation to is the correct option. It is a classic example of a pool system.

The team members pick up the next transaction from the queue when their current work completes. That brings us to the end of this lecture. Thank you for attending. See you in the next one.
