Hi everyone, my name is Jessica crow. I'm a wellness provider I work in the massage therapy world as well as yoga and meditation. I'm also an instructor and educator for other massage therapists and health care providers. I'm here today to talk about text neck or tech neck as it's sometimes called. It's a forward head position when we chronically hold our posture in a forward position, as in when we're working at a desk for long hours on a computer or a laptop. And when we're holding our phone for many, many hours a day or our gaming device, we tend to create a lot of tension in the neck muscles.

And this leads to a dysfunctional posture that can come all the way down the body and create lots of pain and dysfunction. I built this course to brief you on what text neck or Neck neck actually is and what you can do to prevent long term consequences of using computers and mobile devices for long hours every day. I'm going to show you stretches and exercises that help to correct your posture and relieve the muscle and tendon and sometimes nerve pain and discomfort that comes with this posture. These will help you restore balance to the opposing muscle groups that help to support and lift your spine all day.

So I'm going to talk to you about how to avoid developing any new text next symptoms or Any chronic dysfunction in your body that's postural simply by changing some of your daily habits. building some mindfulness techniques into your life is really the best preventative medicine when it comes to long term technology use and that's the way that our society is going. Everyone uses more and more technology on smaller and smaller devices. So we need some kind of tools to implement so we can stay healthy in the long term. By the end of this course, you're going to be able to recognize where your posture is imperfect, and you're going to have tools and exercises to help perfect your posture to help bring it back into a neutral healthy pain free posture. You'll be able to stretch muscles that are tight, relieving pain and fatigue and you'll learn how to strengthen muscles that need to be strengthened to help your posture come back into a neutral position.
