DESCRIPTION: Pick stitching is similar to that of the backstitch. The main difference is the amount of cloth picked up between the stitches. The pick stitching found here is used to sew down the fly making the topstitching almost invisible.
The fly does come under quite a lot of stress during the life of the garment and should be sewn on well as a break in this stitch will cause the trousers to malfunction. If one is not confident they can sew a strong seam here, it would be better to swap this hand-stitch out for a machine stitch.
