DESCRIPTION: As Oscar Wilde once said, “A really well-made buttonhole is the only link between art and nature.”
On Savile Row, a badly made buttonhole is known as a “crushed beetle”. If I had to choose between a crushed beetle and a machine-sewn hole I would go with the machine. Buttonhole machines are expensive and hard to come by. We at The HTA are fortunate to have one for students who haven’t mastered the hand-stitched buttonhole and want to wear their garments home.
