Today the medical community understands that eating a balanced, nutrient-dense diet is essential from the day we are born. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean fats can help to set us up to live a life that is longer and with better quality. You also reduce your chances of becoming obese, having type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. By eating properly, clients will be better able to manage their chronic diseases and prevent further complications. Most Americans, however, are not meeting the recommended dietary requirements to keep us healthy. Americans tend to eat more processed and fatty foods that do not have the proper nutrients to keep their bodies healthy, and these people can end up with a chronic disease.
