The Dimensions of Wellness and Stress Resilience
In 1976 Dr. Bill Hettler developed the Six Dimensions of Wellness and he is the co-founder of the National Wellness Institute in the United States. Wellness is defined as &ldquo;an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices, toward a more successful existence. As more research was conducted, and we had a better understanding of wellness, environmental health was added to create the seven dimensions of wellness. The Stress Management Institute created the 12 Dimensions of Self&ndash;Care and Resilience&trade; to work in conjunction with the Seven Dimensions of Wellness Model. We believe that you need both models in order to live a healthy and balanced life. (National Wellness Institute, 2020)
