Welcome to our Elemental Yoga series. Here I have put together six yoga sequences each about 30 - 40 min in length that focuses on one of the five elements, with the last sequence including all five: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Space. These sequences come from my own practice but have been inspired by the Elemental Yoga methodology as taught at the Swara Yoga School by Jai Garuda and Sofia Araujo, two incredible teachers.

How to approach these sequences?

This is not a new form of yoga; this is Hatha Yoga that incorporates knowledge of the meridian system and presents a correlation with nature and your body/mind. These sequences are meant to empower you with more awareness of your body, mind, and spirit - how are you feeling right now and how can you bring yourself into balance? When you start to understand the qualities of the elements, you can choose which sequence you would like to practice in order to invite in more of those qualities. For instance, if you need more grounding and centering, practice the earth sequence. Become familiar with the elements and what they have to teach you, to inspire in you.

These sequences are both Ha and Tha, Yin and Yang, so they are balancing to the entire element within the body/mind. You can experiment with all of them - see what you are drawn more to and stay with this sequence for some time. You will find that the more you practice a particular sequence, the more it will reveal to you. You might like to practice one for a while before moving onto the next, or you might like to vary between the sequences. For an overall balancing sequence, you can practice the 5-elements sequence.

These sequences are suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Have fun with them. Experiment with and experience the elements through these yoga sequences, and at the same time, enjoy improving the flexibility and strength of your body/mind. As this is our first attempt to create an online yoga video series, we ask your patience with the occasional dip in sound quality and hope that you enjoy all the same. Thank you for supporting this project, as well as for deepening your practice.
