Okay, so now we are going to talk about the difference between energy arousal versus anxiety. A lot of empaths or highly sensitive people might seem that they struggle with anxiety quite a bit. And this might just be anxiety this might actually be an anxiety disorder that they hold, but a lot of the times it is energy arousal, energy arousal can appear very much like anxiety. It can appear like dizziness and blushing and trembling. an uncomfortable feeling, a heart pounding, foggy thinking, you know your stomach churning handshaking, muscle tension, you might feel very on edge when you are dealing with energy arousal. And really we have to remember that our response every Human beings response to stress is to become aroused.

And because our nervous system is so much more intricate and sensitive than the regular, our arousal are going to be much higher. Okay? So it is important as you can see that when we're talking about energy arousal, all of those symptoms that we just discussed, seem to be like an anxiety. So we can think that we're dealing with anxiety when it's actually just an energy arousal. So, how to spot energy arousal versus anxiety, when you first notice those signs of arousal, whether it be you know, a heart, you know, your heart, trembling, sweaty palms, you know, turning stomach you want to notice it, and then you want to name it, and know its source in order to recognize that It is not coming from fear. Because anything that's coming from fear is what anxiety comes from.

So it's really important to catch it in its tracks when you're getting to that point of arousal to really stop and take a step back and be like, Okay, why am I feeling this way? Is this mine? Am I am I worried about something Am I holding on to fear and chances are, you will notice that it's just an energy overload. It's some it's just an energy overload rather than an actual anxiety attack or a feeling of anxiety. So, tips for over arousal a lot of the times I think the most important tip especially when you're dealing with over arousal of energy is just being mindful of it and being cognizant of it and being aware of it. Because when we are aware that it's happening happening that we're going down that rabbit hole, we can kind of stop it in its tracks, name it and then let it subside on its own.

But here are some tips for over, you know, over arousal. So one of the things that has helped me tremendously is clearly stating, I choose peace rather than this and that is from the well known book, A Course in Miracles. You can state it out loud or in your head, but for some reason, it really does help soothe the whole situation. You can do that. And then there's also a tip that I use that I teach my students which is called the five second rule and this is just a simple breathing technique. Anyone can do it.

This doesn't even have to be for energy arousal it can be when you're just so stressed when you need a break from your kids when you need a break from your project. The five A second rule is a wonderful tool to have in your toolbox. And all you have to do for that is breathe in for five seconds, hold your breath for five seconds and then release for five seconds. And you want to repeat that for one to two minutes. Another tool that you can use for over arousal is the Emotional Freedom Technique, which is also known as tapping. This is a wonderful tool to have, you can check out YouTube for videos on how to do it.

Again, this is really simple. It's really just touching on different meridians and and spots in your body that allow allow you to kind of concentrate the energy there. It's really that's a really good one to have. And then also a really simple one is just closing your eyes to shut out some of the stimulation. This is really super Especially with highly sensitive children, my I have both of my sons are very highly sensitive kids and one of them gets very aroused, very aroused in certain situations and when I just tell him to take a deep breath and close his eyes, it really helps him calm his nerves. Another thing that you can do is just take a break, whether it be you know, in an argument with someone or you're in a certain room, just taking a walk outside giving yourself a break, getting some fresh air.

Nature really is such a magical tool that we can have in our toolbox that will allow you to ground your energy and to be present in the moment. So, in the next section, we are going to talk about balance and the importance of it while being a highly sensitive individual in our society. I'll see you in the next section.
