Welcome to the quick course elevator pitch. The second snippet explains why the elevator pitch is so important. The snippet reveals why serial entrepreneurs expend a lot of effort creating a great elevator pitch. I know it may sound obvious, but when you dig deeper, you'll see some of what you'll have to change and add to your thinking. Here we go. Why create an elevator pitch means you're ready for the unexpected.

Recall the scene as you step onto the elevator and immediately spot that person you've been wanting to meet. You boldly look him in the eyes and say glad I ran into you. I've got something exciting to share. And when he says I'm listening and stares back at you quite seriously, you are prepared. You won't be shaking or scared. You won't miss your big opportunity.

Why have an elevator pitch also means you quickly get the audience eager to know more. Because it is suggestive. It tickles the mind of potential employees, investors and bloggers. It gets the listener whoever they are wondering how your idea might be made into a very hot business. That person already knows the Facebook's and Google's are rare. But they all started just like yours.

With an initial idea, nothing more. Handy knows that even less gigantic enterprises have created a lot of wealth by simply starting with a cool business. And he recalls he all began with elevator pitches from people just like you. Now your listeners silently wondering, hey, I wonder what the potential is for this idea? Yes, you've got his attention, at least for a few more seconds. Why prepare an elevator pitch in advance because it's tricky to do well, it's very hard to do spontaneously if you're not ready.

That's very tricky. Why put extra effort into preparing an elevator pitch well because lots of different people will want to know about your idea. Many more than you might expect. You'll never know who you bump into who needs to know next. They will include people you need to get off the ground. Start your business, all important people to tell about your cool idea.

That's where the elevator pitch comes in. Why you need to prepare it well. This very short story about your business idea includes lots of things, important items you're going to require to get started the story about cash to get going people to help you try some legal help and others things your listener wants to hear about. That's why you have to design it well. Construction of your elevator pitch is also tricky. First, it has to be super short, short is harder than long, and it must be powerful able to immediately entice and begin the process of converting a doubting audience into one that wants to To know more.

That's why it's necessary, important and vital to spend time constructing it. Constructing it so that when delivered, it engages the people you need. That's another reason why it's important to spend your time with a great elevator pitch, preparing and constructing it. This is where the elevator pitch fits into the big picture. That's one of four plans you need. The elevator pitches the shortest about 30 seconds long.

Next comes the executive summary. Typically three to four pages long. Then your PowerPoint presentation that uses around 30 slides. And finally, your written business plan loaded with words numbers, graphics and charts. Think about the elevator pitches the first sent on a trail that attracts and lead amps to the big sugar pile. In the case of the investor, the elevator pitch begins the process of looking for money, tickles the listener grabs his attention.

Then, the longer executive summary adds more information, captivates more of his attention. That gets him to say, Hi, come on. Let's see here. How about presenting your idea in my office next Tuesday at nine o'clock. If his attention continues, he'll expect a detailed explanation of your plans to make an outstanding business out of your initial idea. And that's the trail that leads to the money in this example.

The sugar at the end of the trail depends on who you are going to tell your elevator pitch to. Each has something your business needs. You can see them right here in this slide. Each person must be initially tickled by your elevator Pitch so many people, so much you need from them. That's why it's important to construct a great elevator pitch. Keep in mind the three basics, exciting, short story.

Together, they'll constitute what you must deliver. That's something special that instantly engages that important person staring at you in the elevator. If you're successful with your elevator pitch delivery, the listener most often will say, um, hey, before I go, why don't you send me something soon as you can. The person wants something to read a document about what you just spoke about. That's your executive summary. He'll expected swiftly by email.
