Now I will demonstrate the G major pentatonic scale for you. And then I will have you play along with me. Don't worry, we'll go really slow. So here's a quick demonstration. And I'm just going to play it in the first position, meaning based around the first fret of the guitar just right here as opposed to going up the fret board. So let's start with G. Here's G, A, B.

Don't worry, you're not playing along with me yet. I'm just showing you that would be called one octave from G. The next G is one octave. Now we're gonna do two octaves. So from there from this G, keep going. I'm just showing you and then going back down descending. here would be the full two octaves ascending and descending.

So I'm just playing G, A, B, C, D, E, G, and then repeating that, and that's how scales work. So, let me go through the scale with you really slow. Alright, so you're going to start by putting your ring finger on the third fret of the low E string. If you want, you can use your middle finger, but I would suggest using your ring finger, it's a little more true to the position that we're in. That's our first note G. Once you got that, let's go on to the next note a. Once you got that, B, second fret with your middle finger, second fret on the A string.

Then we're going to go to the next string D And then second fret on the D string, which is an E note. So remember, just pause it, if you're really struggling where to find it, you'll see the diagram to help you out. And also me demonstrating where the finger is on this string, and then G. That's our first octave. Let's go to the next octave, or continue on to the next octave to a on the second fret of G, then B, open B string and then the third fret on the B string, D. Then the high E string which is the end Note and then G. Now let's go back down G, D, third fret of the B string, B, open D string, second fret of the G string, a middle finger and then G string, open G, G, E, second fret of the D string, D, second fret of the A string is B.

Then a is just open A string and then ending off on the root note G, which is also where the scale is named. Now that we've gone to the scale, what I would do is practice that going up and going down a number as many times as you can handle in one sitting. Okay, you can follow along with what I just did there. Or you can simply just look at the diagram and just go up and down practicing that. Now, we didn't take too much of a look at the right hand. But for each note, you can just pick down on the string.

For example, G, A, B. Once you're comfortable doing that, what I would do is go back and save the note names as well G, A, B, okay, just nice and slow. This is honestly going to be a pretty slow process to start. But you'll see that in the end, it's well worth it to do Now let's go into lesson four where we will learn about the G major scale.
