This lesson is a bit of a bonus lesson to the E blues module. I'm going to show you power chords or a few power chords. But you've already learned a couple. So when you played this E five here for the E blues shuffle the E in the A string here that is considered a power chord. Now, the trick come in comes in where you will move up the fretboard with that. I'm going to briefly shown you how you could do the B shuffle by playing up here.

You're actually going from a b power chord. Okay, I'm just demonstrating all this to you right now. You don't have to try and follow along. But they're really nice to have because I mean you hear them all the time and rock are they used all the time in like rock and roll tons of different music, you know? Right, that's those are power chords. So you know the five already that's down here.

Now let's learn the five or the power chord on, excuse me, the seventh fret, the seventh fret of the A string. So you're going to take your index finger and from the A string 1234567. And then on the D string, you're gonna put your ring finger on the ninth fret. So there's a fret in between, which is the eighth fret, and it's just the A and the D string. That'll be your e power chord. You can play it or like a show Before you can mute the strings with your right hand, the palm of your right hand just kind of gently sits on the strings.

I can be really cool. Now with this particular power chord, you actually can play a low E string as well. That sounds pretty cool, right? In some cases, you can play all kind of a neat sound. But in general, you just want to stick with the two strings, this case the A and the D string. Now that a power chord, well, you already played that here.

But let's learn it in a different position, this would be considered kind of position one, we're gonna go to position five, meaning the fifth fret or the index finger hovers over, so on the E string position, 5112345. And then on a string, you're gonna have your ring finger on the seven threat there's just gonna be a and a string. This one, you don't really want to hit all like any other strings really too much unless you really like that sound and go for it, but otherwise you're playing just the two strings there. Also notice how my thumb again is behind the neck or kind of at the center of the bottom of the neck there. And then there's space in between the palm of my hand, my left hand and the neck of the guitar. It's a common theme throughout this course.

Alright, so you have the e power chord. Let's just take a look at the ones up here that we haven't done yet the e power chord with your index finger on the seventh fret, and then your ring finger on the ninth fret of the D string. You can kind of just reference it from the pointer finger or the index finger here on the seventh fret of the A string. And then just think, Oh, I need a fret in between. And then I just go one string over. So I'm gonna play the a power cord on the fifth fret, E string.

Now, the B power chord or B five chord, just gonna go up two frets. So that's the seventh fret on the E string, and the ninth fret on a string. So let's try this here. So the e power cord a power cord for the eastern b power cord on the seventh fret, the eastern now notice the power cord is the court is named after the new The index finger is on. So this is actually an A note. If you remember a bit from the scales, this is your e note low E note.

This would be the third fret would be a G note like if you remember from the E minor pentatonic II G, G note. Now if you go up two frets, you're up to the a note. And then you can make the power chord from a power. Someone said play a G power chord, you just put your index finger on that G note of the low E string and then you know that you need to have a fret in between and then you just take your ring finger and put it on the string next to it. That would be a G power chord. So you know the notes are you know a few notes now on the low E string, which is good To be aware of the E note, she third fret, a lot of guitars do have that dot their fifth fret is a E string, seventh fret is B.

Now on the A string, it's good to know as well. So the power chord, we know that this is an E note on the seventh fret. We also know this is a B note our scales, from the G scale we know this is a C note kind of the gap in between the E note and the C note. This would be the D note there and then E. So someone said play a C power chord can go back down here C note on the A string and play that so that's pretty cool progression there. No other way to practice this as you could Just play through the E blues. Just go 124 and 124 and all etc, all the way through the 12 bar blues.

Alright, so that brings us to the end of the blues module for learning the chords Anyway, I hope you had fun. And when you're comfortable with those concepts, then head on over to the next module, and we'll learn how to really jam out on the E blues chord progression.
