DESCRIPTION: Back in days when paint tubes were just being invented and every artist was painting with the officially accepted brown gravy tones a barber's son named William Turner broke out with his 'Color Beginnings'.

The gravy was replaced with a healthy fruit salad chock full of tasty colors.

Our study today is in orange and blue. I want to point out that there are different kinds of blue, yellow, and red. Each has its own characteristics. Thalo blue (Phthalocyanine blue) is a vibrant hue that makes intense greens when mixed with most yellow. Cobalt blue makes very subdued green when combined with the most yellow. Alizarin Crimson is much different than Cadmium Red Medium and both make different oranges.

You will learn about pigment choices and how they react with each other by the end of this class.
