So now that we know having a Purpose Driven Life will allow you to live much more fulfilling lives full of joy, vitality, a lot of happiness success. We wanted to share with you a few examples of people who have tried and tested this method and how they found meaning in their lives. And the first example I want to share with you is one of a man called Viktor Frankl Viktor Frankl was a psychiatrist from Austria. He was also the founder of something called logotherapy School, which he created in order to help those in need, especially those who have experienced traumatizing life events in finding their purpose in life again, after losing basically all hope. And his inspiration for creating this school was through an experience he had in a concentration camp in Auschwitz. This is also what he based his book on that he wrote in 1946, called Man's Search for Meaning.

Now, if you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it. It's extremely inspirational. Not only is it inspirational, it's very insightful into the abilities we actually have, how much our bodies can endure, and how with the right mindset or the frame of mind, psychologically, how much we can actually how much this affects our well being, even more so than physically. And what he found during his experience in this concentration camp, which is what I want to talk to you about, for the next few minutes is those that had found a purpose in life who had a vision for their future and had a goal to attain to who felt like they were worthy of something working towards something had a much, much higher chance of surviving the concentration camp than those Who didn't? I found this I found this extremely, like extraordinarily interesting. So I wanted to deep dive into it a bit more.

And when I was reading about this, he was talking about you know, even with the horrible select standards in a concentration camp So to give you an idea, they have extremely poor shelter. You know, you don't even have it as a warm so you're sleeping on things like wooden planks, and it's very uncomfortable, not nice in any way. They are physically working all day getting extremely exhausted, and they're not having the right food or drink to support giving them energy because they would survive on literally one piece of bread a day. Yet, even with these physiological needs, these very core physiological needs not being met in the cap. Still, though, This was possible to survive. Everybody could survive this issue with not having their physiological needs being met, but they would not survive if they didn't have a purpose in their lives.

And so Victor investigated this more obviously, as a psychologist in the camp, he used his skillset, his strength, his passion, to to find out how he could survive this camp as well, which he did. And he found three things that helped him find his meaning. And the first one was the passion for your work. So having a work that you're passionate about, that you truly care about, that speaks to who you are, gave him the drive, to be able to survive this camp and have his meaning. So much. So he was envisioning himself giving lectures, speeches about all of the learnings he got from the camp.

He was envisioning writing his book, a man search for meaning. He was thinking about his purpose, he was thinking about what he was still to do in life, his goals in life, and how he still has things to achieve and to offer. And this one was a very key one for him personally and for others in the camp. Now, this is one we can all relate to. If we do not have a passion for the work that we do, which is something we By the way, spend the majority of our time doing, we spend the majority of our time doing our work. Now work may not necessarily be your job.

You could be an entrepreneur, you could be a student, or in full time employment, or you could be a full time parent, whatever it is that you spend the majority of your time in a day, you need to have a passion for this. Otherwise it's literally detrimental to your life. And we're going to cover In the questions during the exercises and very important one as well. The next thing he found meaning in others is love of another. So he found that through love, having love for another, they supported him in his, in his sustainability of meaning. So for him, this was his wife, and his wife was actually in another concentration camp.

He didn't even know if she was alive. If she was okay if she was healthy, they wouldn't even be able to exchange letters. But he found an entirely different meaning of love or he found, as he put it, the real meaning of love in that he, he survived through thinking of her essence. And what he was doing is he was having conversations in his head with his wife with the essence of his wife with who she is with her personality and how Having this support having this this emotional support from his wife, even though it wasn't physical it was it was mental connection really helped him get through the camp as well. Last thing, what he found, was having courage and hope through difficult times. courage and hope through difficult times is vital.

Of course in his case it was it was amplified because each and every day you're wondering, are you going to survive? Are you going to live another day so having the courage and the hope that you are going to survive was something extremely critical in this difficult time for him. But this is not something only relevant in a life or death situation. This is something we all experience on a daily Basically, I mean, this is the world today is a very hard place to live in. We all have a lot of problems. I'm sure you've had times in your life where you don't know what you're doing anymore where you were very confused, where you feel overwhelmed, where you have a problem, or several problems that you just don't know how to move forward, where you feel that there's no way out.

And the key thing here is, regardless of what your problem or situation is, because we're always going to have problems in life, it's just creating good problems rather than bad problems is the difference that you can make. having the courage to push through it, having the hope, and believing in yourself believing that you will get through this believing in your purpose, knowing your goal, knowing your gut, like what's guiding you in life. Having that courage and hope is going to be extremely important in these difficult times. He really saw this he saw this happening in the camp and what he really found is, no matter how bad the current situation is, your current situation is no matter how about how bad the how, as long as you, you, your wife, you could enjoy any health. Very important. So no matter how bad your current situation is your current house, knowing your why your purpose, your meaning, will always allow you to get through it no matter how bad the situation is, and in his case was extremely bad, right life or death situation.

So knowing your why, to having the courage and hope believing in yourself believing in your purpose and your meaning, having love and compassion Have another, being passionate about your work, knowing what you're here to do, knowing what's your purpose in life for him, meaning. And I think this is a fantastic example from Victor that I really wanted to share with you. A second one I want to talk about with you is about another great man. More related to modern times. So I'm sure you've heard of him, which is Steve Jobs. Now, Steve Jobs is the founder of Apple Corporation.

Apple, one of the biggest and best brands in the world. You know, leading in technology, everyone probably has some form of device from Apple, they are extremely successful. What we're going to do is we're going to look at a short clip of his speech when he first launched a campaign called think different campaign back in 1997. To his colleagues in Apple before we look at the speech or To talk a little bit about what's his message there. And that is, no matter how much things change, no matter how much the world is changing, no matter how much we need to innovate and do things differently depending on times changing, etc, one thing should never change. And that is your core values.

Very important. And by the way, this, this is not only speaking from a business perspective, this is also speaking from a human being perspective. So whether we're talking about core values in a business or core values for you as a person, these should not change who you are. It's who you are. It's what you stand for. It's what you believe in.

It's where your strengths lie. Of course, things can change such as a shift in your vision, your goal, the dirt, the way you do. Make your direction How you do things, but your overall purpose and your overall vision should not change because they're linked to who you are your core values. And what he was trying to say here is that no matter how much things are changing in the environment, we need to stick to our core values. And he said that with Apple, that's exactly why they have their success today. And they weren't always as successful as they are today.

You might know that he was actually fired from Apple, ironically, some years back and actually by the very man that he recruited to co manage apple at the time. They had some disagreements and he got fired from the company, very own company he built. And some years later, he got the opportunity to come back and he jumped at this opportunity because it's the company he built, it's part of who he is who he is as part of his values. So he was more than happy to come back to the company. But when he did, he found that actually, at the time, the product line had become very extensive and complicated. The logistics and the operations were extremely costly and not effective at all.

And there were a lot of problems the business was actually also not doing well fine financially either. And he wanted to bring back the point of the company was neglecting one very important thing and that's investment in learning and development. So because they were not investing in developing and building the learning of this brand, they were they were suffering for this. And also, he wanted to clarify that no matter how much things change your career if your consumers changing if you're cutting customer is demanding different things if the the trend is different if we need to innovate, etc, etc. One thing must remain the same. And that's your core values.

And it still remains the same point today. And he makes the point as well, that Apple is still the same company today as it was when it first started. It knows why it exists. It knows what it stands for. And when he brought that back, he brought this this concept back into the company that culture back into it, did they start to flourish once again. And I think this is also an amazing example because also whether you're going to be successful in business, or life overall, core values is where everything begins.

You need to understand your core values in order to know and derive your purpose know your why. And to get through any of the house you need to have. Everything else falls into place. You need to have a passion for your work. You need to have courage and hope through difficult times and you need to have love Compassion in your life. From that, you can derive everything else.

And ultimately, you can then find your meaning. So now we're going to watch this clip from from Steve Jobs. It's an amazing one. Please take these next 10 minutes 1015 minutes to watch the clip, and we'll see you when you get back and we'll continue
